Job summary

Poh Kong is seeking aFinance/FP&A-focused intern or entry‑level analyst in Malaysia to support budgeting, planning, and performance reporting. The role offers hands‑on exposure to FP&A activities and cross‑functional collaboration with departments such as Retail, Marketing, and Operations.

Ideal candidates are pursuing or have recently completed a degree in Finance, Accounting, or related fields, with at least 1 year of relevant experience and strong Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or related field.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant work or internship experience at a reputable organization is required.
• Strong working knowledge of Excel/Google Sheets (pivot tables, formulas).
• Exposure to Power BI/Tableau or basic SQL is a plus but not required.
• Good communication and writing skills in English; Chinese is an advantage.
• Organized, dependable and comfortable asking questions.

Responsibilities

• Work with each department (Retail, Marketing, Operations, HR, etc.) to gather budget requests and supporting assumptions
• Pull and organise past performance data (sales, costs, headcount, etc.) to sense‑check department budget requests against actual historical trends
• Assist in building simple budget allocation templates/trackers that compare requested budget vs. past performance vs. business plan priorities
• Support variance analysis — flagging where a department's request looks out of line with its own historical performance or with company priorities
• Help prepare clear summary slides/one-pagers for Finance leadership on budget allocation recommendations
• Assist with ad hoc data requests and light research to support the wider Finance team (treasury, hedging, digital platform projects) as needed

About you

Currently pursuing (penultimate/final year) or recently completed a degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related field

Minimum 1 year of relevant work or internship experience at a reputable organization (e.g. a bank, Big 4 firm, MNC, consulting firm, or similar) is required

Strong working knowledge of Excel/Google Sheets (pivot tables, formulas); exposure to Power BI/Tableau or basic SQL is a plus but not required

Comfortable working with numbers and spotting patterns/inconsistencies in data — no need for advanced modelling experience

Good communication and writing skills in English and Chinese are an advantage, as the role involves reviewing and preparing documentation in Chinese
