We are seeking a highly motivated and hands-on Financial Controller to join a leading multinational company based in Malaysia. This role is ideal for a dynamic individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is comfortable rolling up their sleeves, and is passionate about building strong financial foundations. The successful candidate will lead a small team and be responsible for managing the full spectrum of finance and accounting functions while ensuring compliance with group policies and local statutory requirements.
Lead and oversee day-to-day finance and accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and fixed assets.
Ensure timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing and financial reporting in accordance with local statutory requirements and group reporting standards (IFRS/MFRS).
Manage the preparation of management reports, financial analysis, variance analysis, and cost control initiatives to support business decisions.
Coordinate the budgeting and forecasting process and monitor performance against targets.
Work closely with auditors, tax agents, and other external stakeholders to ensure compliance with audit, tax, and regulatory obligations.
Drive process improvements and implement internal controls to enhance financial governance and operational efficiency.
Support business units and commercial teams with financial insights and ad-hoc analysis as required.
Take ownership of local statutory financial statements and tax submissions, including transfer pricing compliance.
Collaborate with regional and group finance teams to ensure consistency and alignment with corporate objectives.
Mentor and develop a small team of finance professionals, fostering a high-performance and collaborative culture.
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Professional qualification such as ACCA, CPA, ICAEW or equivalent is mandatory.
Minimum 8 years of relevant experience, including audit experience in a Big 4 accounting firm. Commercial finance experience in an MNC environment is an advantage.
Strong technical knowledge in financial reporting standards (IFRS/MFRS) and Malaysian tax regulations.
Proven ability to be hands-on, detail-oriented, and capable of managing operational finance responsibilities independently.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments and cultures.
High level of integrity, accountability, and adaptability.
