Job description

As Financial Analyst, you will be a key member of the Financial Planning & Analysis team and has primary responsibility for costing functions supporting all Sonoco Consumer plants in Malaysia. You will report to the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis based in Singapore.

Your core responsibilities include:

• Perform product costing and pricing for new product and review costing on existing products from time to time for both RP and Flexible business divisions.
• Provides product and segment analysis including pricing, mix, cost, and other key variables which will help drive profitability for the business.
• Involved in month-end and year-end closing process, detail production cost analysis, cost of sales analysis, inventory valuation test, standard cost setting and variance analysis.
• Recommending solutions to reduce expenses, increase revenue, and maximize efficiency.
• Monitoring the implementation of financial plans to support business growth, performing risk assessments, and making adjustment as needed.
• Utilize analytical skills to assist in operational monthly rolling forecast and budgeting process.

Education / Academic Background:

Possess Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent in professional accounting qualification, i.e. ACCA.

Experience:

• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in manufacturing environment. Some prior experience in financial accounting or audit will be an advantage.
• Possess hands-on experience in product costing, product pricing and revenue/cost analysis.
• Able to manage daily deliverables independently as well as perform under pressure.
• Analytical mindset with some business acumen.

Knowledge & Skill:

• Knowledge in general principles of manufacturing or costs accounting and analysis.
• Knowledge in Oracle EPR system will be an advantage.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office packages such as Word, Excel and Power Point.
• A highly motivated individual who is willing to take initiatives and follow up with details/analysis.
• Able to work independently and deliver to deadlines.
• Demonstrate resilience & patience, with prior experience in data analysis.
• Technically competent and possess good interpersonal skills to collaborate at all levels in the organization.
• Excellent communication skills in English and Mandarin, both written and spoken. We are seeking candidates proficient in Mandarin to effectively communicate with Mandarin-speaking clients.
• Willing to travel as needed.
