Job summary

Synthomer, a leading polymers and ingredients supplier, seeks a finance professional in Malaysia to manage monthly/quarterly closings, journal entries, and reconciliations. You will interact with group Finance, ensure accurate reporting, and support audits, with exposure to tax computations and local e-invoicing rules.

Ideal candidates will understand internal controls, asset management, and inter-company processes while collaborating with regional teams for compliant financial closures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare timely balance sheet reconciliations with supporting documents.
• Maintain reconciliation within BPC, statutory accounts and SAP S/4 General Ledger.
• Support internal and external audit programs as scheduled.

Purpose of the Job:

Perform regular accounting information by recording, verifying, and completing transactions toward meeting financial reporting calendar. Primary responsibility of this role to ensure daily the financial system is feeding information correctly and in line with Synthomer group and international accounting standards. Support all financial and compliance reporting. Prepare and disaminate schedules and information related to stocktake , financial closures and dealing with group Finance team. Good understanding of accounting standard and internal control framework.

Main Accountabilities:

• Perform monthly / quarterly financial closing calendar, communicate with internal / external stakeholders. Highlight any potential problems.

• Execute all recurring journal entries, including Accrual, Prepayments, Deposits and other provisions.

• Prepare accurate and timely balance sheet reconciliations with proper supporting documents.

• Prepare and maintain proper reconciliation within BPC (Group reporting System) , Statutory Accounts and SAP S4 General Ledger .

• Support selected Internal and external audit program and ensure information is provided as per agreed schedules.

• Participate in the physical inventories and reconciliation. (Travel will not be a regular part of the job, but candidate should visit a plant to understand the business. )

• Perform period end capitalization transaction for approved projects in line with group accounting policies .

• Participate year end physical asset sighting with auditors. Identify assets not in use for more than 1 year and propose correct accounting treatments.

• Review periodical review of financial posting to revenue , costing and other regular items are captured timely and within stipulated period.

• Calculate margin on weekly basis and share with BP team

• Exceptional or non routine transactions are properly investigated and reported timely.

• Identify best practices and actively participate generating improvement ideas.

• Record non- compliance incidents or activities and perform root cause analysis.

• Perform inter-company monthly transactions including month end confirmation with counterparts. Ensure BPC transactions are promptly update. Resolve any Interco confirmation differences after reporting.

• Establish communications and working relationships with finance and Business Partnering team.

• Prepare company level tax computation and provide journals for tax liabilities. Perform deferred tax calculation and review with Finance team.

• Gain reasonable knowledge of Malaysian e-invoicing framework and ensure FI invoices compliance to e-invoicing rules
