Overview
Your future employer is a FMCG Distributor responsible for the import, export, and distribution of a wide selection of consumer goods with 50+ stores in Malaysia. They are currently looking for a Finance Manager to lead the finance department and oversee P&L analysis and financial planning duties.
Role & Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the timely execution of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing processes, ensuring full compliance with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS).
- Prepare and submit consolidated financial reporting packages to the Japanese parent company in a timely and accurate manner.
- Manage all tax compliance, including the preparation and submission of corporate tax and Sales & Service Tax (SST) filings, and effectively manage all related tax and external audits.
- Formulate and manage the company-wide budget, continuously monitor actual financial results, and perform in-depth variance analysis.
- Establish, monitor, and report on key operational and financial Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to guide business performance.
- Manage all cash flow activities, including preparing cash flow forecasts, and actively working to optimize working capital.
- Negotiate and maintain strong relationships with financial institutions across Malaysia.
- Manage the credit control function and oversee the efficient accounts receivable collection process, particularly for our overseas clients.
- Maintain and strengthen compliance with the Malaysian Companies Act and all other relevant statutory regulations and corporate governance standards.
- Supervise, mentor, develop, and evaluate the performance of the local finance and accounting staff (a team of 2–3 members).
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives by conducting process reviews and implementing solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 - 7 years of hands-on accounting or finance experience, with significant exposure to the Malaysian financial landscape.
- At least 2 years of experience in a team management role, leading and mentoring a team of 3 or more staff.
- Previous success in completing financial closing processes compliant with Malaysian Financial Reporting Standards (MFRS).
- Strong understanding and practical experience in cost accounting. (Experience within the retail or wholesale industry is a definite plus!)
- Comprehensive knowledge of MFRS/MPERS and current Malaysian tax regulations.
- Advanced skills in key business applications, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Power BI, with strong command of Excel (VLOOKUP, PivotTable).
- Previous experience in the logistics, warehousing, trading, or wholesale sectors.
- Experience working within a Japanese corporate culture or reporting directly to a Japanese Headquarters (HQ).
- Familiarity and operational experience with major ERP systems (such as SAP, Oracle, or D365FO).
- Proficiency at the business level in Japanese (JLPT N2 or higher).
- Experience and knowledge related to transfer pricing.

Working Hours: 9:00am - 6:00pm (Monday to Friday).
