We are hiring for one of our portfolio companies. This is an on-site role. The business is based in Malaysia, and the role is focused on cruise operations across Asia.

Position Title: Finance Manager (Cruise Division, Southeast Asia)

Location: Johor, Malaysia

Target Markets: Asia

The Finance Manager (Cruise Division, Southeast Asia) is responsible for overseeing the financial health of the entire ship, including the hotel, gaming, food & beverage (F&B), entertainment, and overall ship operations. This role ensures regulatory compliance, optimizes financial performance across all revenue-generating sectors, and provides strategic insights to senior management. The Finance Manager will lead the finance team and collaborate with various departments to maintain accurate financial records, streamline cost controls, and drive overall profitability.

Key Responsibilities including directly overseeing, and / managing a team to oversee:

  • Oversee all financial operations of all business divisions on ship. Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies to optimize revenue streams and cost efficiency across all onboard departments.
  • Manage cash flow, revenue tracking, and financial risk management for the ship’s entire operations.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, balance sheets, and profit & loss reports for each business division.
  • Work closely with ship leadership, department heads, and corporate executives to support strategic planning and financial decision-making.
  • Build, supervise and guide the finance team through either direct or indirect reporting, including accountants, onboard finance personnel, and inventory controllers.
  • Oversee the ship’s financial audits, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
  • Manage relationships with external stakeholders such as auditors, tax authorities, financial institutions, and suppliers.
  • Develop and enforce financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets.
  • Optimize operational costs and analyze financial data to improve overall ship profitability.
  • Monitor daily revenue reconciliation from all ship revenue sources.
  • Implement financial systems and onboard accounting technologies to enhance efficiency and reporting capabilities.
  • Manage shipboard inventory control, procurement processes, and expense tracking.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
  • CPA, CFA, or equivalent professional certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in financial management.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in cruise / maritime industry
  • Strong analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of hospitality revenue management and maritime financial compliance, a plus.
  • Proficiency in financial software and accounting systems.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with experience managing finance teams across multiple revenue centers.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic, shipboard environment and handle multiple priorities.
