Job description

Finance Manager (Construction/Manufacture/Trading) Cheras/Serdang/Kajang/Puchong

Responsibilities:

  1. Supervise all accounting functions to ensure the monthly and yearly financial statements are prepared accurately and timely. Assist external auditors during the year-end audit.
  2. Manage all payment functions, including accounts payable, sundry creditors, and staff claims, ensuring payments are performed efficiently and effectively.
  3. Ensure payments received are correctly posted into the accounts and credit control is functioning efficiently and effectively.
  4. Manage cash flow effectively with close monitoring of bank balances.
  5. Ensure timely issuance of bank guarantees and prompt collection of deposits upon expiry.
  6. Assist in company secretarial matters. Verify board resolutions, statutory documents, and annual returns prepared by the company secretary before deadlines.
  7. Coordinate with tax agents to ensure corporate tax matters, including annual tax returns, payments, reports, schedules, and provisional tax liabilities, are handled efficiently and on time.
  8. Ensure company insurances are renewed timely and in accordance with company requirements, in consultation with the Executive Director.
  9. Adhere to existing financial controls, avoiding deviations unless authorized. Provide recommendations to strengthen financial controls.
  10. Develop departmental standard operating policies and procedures, advising relevant parties accordingly.
  11. Conduct annual staff appraisals following company procedures, revising job descriptions and aligning with organizational objectives.
  12. Manage the company’s fixed asset register.
  13. Ensure all accounting documents and records are properly filed, maintained, and easily retrievable, keeping records for at least seven years as required by IRB.
  14. Perform any other duties or ad hoc tasks as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  1. Degree in Accountancy or professional qualification (ACCA, CIMA, ICAEW) or equivalent.
  2. MIA membership is an advantage.
  3. Minimum of five (5) years of accounting experience, preferably in engineering, construction, or manufacturing industries.
  4. Analytical mindset with keen attention to detail.
  5. Meticulous with excellent attention to detail.
