The FM’s primary responsibility is to maintain accurate financial records for their market. This consists of closing the books timely each month while ensuring a high level of quality in the reported numbers by following established policies and procedures (P&Ps) related to financial reporting and actively playing a role in recommending productive changes to P&Ps when necessary. Additionally, the FM is expected to play a key support role for the Regional General Manager of Malaysia & Singapore (RGM) as a commercial partner, in an effort to provide understanding of all aspects of financial performance in a market and enable strategic decision-making by the RGM.

Responsibilities

  1. Prepare and coordinate the Company’s management and statutory accounting reporting in accordance with internal & external established policies and procedures to meet deadlines respectively.
  2. Complete all internal management reporting on a timely basis, advise management of financial position relative to plan & past years, and highlight issues to management where applicable.
  3. Prepare and coordinate the Company’s budget and forecast according to defined planning timelines.
  4. Perform financial analysis on various aspects of the Company to provide strategic input to support departmental, business, and corporate objectives.
  5. Manage cash flow and forecast in optimal position, working with banks to negotiate the best rates and make available all feasible payment options to customers.
  6. Handle all payroll matters, including social insurance schemes, etc., in accordance with prevailing guidelines, and ensure compliance with all relevant statutory requirements.
  7. Work with the Corporate Finance department to develop and maintain accurate stocktake reports; collaborate with the local management team to ensure accurate and timely recording of inventory.
  8. Prepare and coordinate capital planning for the Company, including working with Corporate for any request of unbudgeted capital spending.
  9. Supply updated information on finance policies and procedures to support department, business, and corporate objectives.
  10. Prepare the quarterly tax entries that include SST and income tax.

Background and Skills

  1. Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant disciplines; postgraduate degree desirable.
  2. CPA certification, though not a must but highly desirable.
  3. At least 5 years’ experience in Finance and Accounting, of which 3 years at supervisory level.
  4. Ability to create, maintain and analyze financial statements of the Company including advanced accounting issues.
  5. Good understanding of US GAAP.
  6. Current knowledge of accounting rules and the impact of those rules on the Company.
  7. Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  8. Must be detail-oriented and results-oriented, have the ability to work autonomously, set and achieve aggressive goals and deadlines.
  9. High proficiency in written and verbal English.
  10. Ability to effectively and efficiently perform all essential job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation and without posing a direct safety threat to others or self.
  11. Must understand compliance with statutory requirements and tax-related items including income taxes, SST, and other related taxes.
