THE TEAM
We are a dynamic, collaborative team, working closely with both internal and external stakeholders. Our Malaysian accounting department is integral to our global accounting operations, consistently focusing on continuous improvement and efficiency.
THE OPPORTUNITY
As Finance Manager, you will be the authority on financial integrity, supporting robust business planning, managing audits and taxes, and delivering the financial insights that drive smart decisions. From daily accounting and cash flow management to compliance and strategic reporting, you'll ensure our financial engine runs smoothly. This highly interactive role serves key internal stakeholders (leadership and cross-functional teams) and external partners (auditors, banks, vendors, and clients) to steer the company's financial health and growth. We are seeking a proactive, hands-on financial specialist who enjoys building and improving systems. You'll lead a small team while making a significant positive impact on our organization. THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE IN THIS ROLE
Financial & Management Accounting
- Oversee and maintain the full set of accounts to include General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Fixed Assets and Customer/Vendor records
- Lead monthly and year-end closing activities, including journal approvals, reconciliations, financial reporting packs, and cash flow statements
- Prepare accurate management reports, financial analysis, and ad-hoc reports to support decision-making
- Monitor actual performance against budget/forecast and report variances with clear explanations
Cash Flow & Treasury Management
- Manage daily treasury operations, including cash flow forecasts, petty cash, bank reconciliations, and overseeing multiple bank accounts.
- Ensure timely collections, supplier payments, and effective working capital management.
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, regulatory requirements, e-Invoicing requirements and corporate and indirect tax obligations.
- Manage external audits, tax filings, transfer pricing documentation, and liaise with auditors, tax agents, bankers, clients, and vendors.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Support system improvements and participate in finance-related projects such as ERP implementation and e-Invoicing.
- Maintain strong internal controls and streamline financial processes to enhance operational efficiency.
Management, Leadership & Collaboration
- Carry out the management and leadership responsibilities – planning, assigning and directing work
- Develop the finance team which includes recruiting and hiring of staff; supervise, coach and mentor the finance team
- Address complaints, resolve issues and recommend process improvements
- Collaborate closely with Events Operations and other departments to align financial strategies with broader business objectives and support cross-functional initiatives.
Your Skills and Expertise
- Minimum requirement is Degree in Accounting/Finance holder or partly qualified in accounting professional examination with at least 8 years of related work experience and at least 2 years in a managerial position
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Strong grasp of full set of accounts, financial reporting, and cash flow management
- Solid understanding of Malaysian tax laws, audit requirements, and regulatory compliance matters
- Ability to read, analyse and interpret financial reports and legal documents
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community
- Proficient with oral and written communication in English and presentation skills is essential
- Ability to speak and read Bahasa Malaysia and other languages is an advantage
- Strong proficiency in using accounting software such as Oracle, Netsuite or any ERP software, as well as Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel
