A financial services firm in Kuala Lumpur seeks a Finance Manager to oversee financial health, planning, and strategy. This role requires 5+ years of experience in financial management and strong leadership skills. A Finance Manager is a key leader within an organization’s financial team, responsible for managing and overseeing the company’s financial health, planning, and strategy. This role combines analytical rigor, strategic thinking, and leadership to guide organizations towards financial efficiency, compliance, and growth. The Finance Manager plays a pivotal part in ensuring that financial objectives align with the broader business strategy, supporting sustainable progress and competitive advantage.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning and Analysis
Develop, implement, and monitor the organization’s annual budgets and forecasts in collaboration with senior management. Analyze financial data, market trends, and business performance to provide actionable insights and recommendations. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, presenting findings to executives and relevant stakeholders. Support strategic decision-making with data-driven financial analysis and scenario planning.
Management of Financial Operations
Oversee daily financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger management. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records through robust internal controls and reconciliation processes. Supervise and mentor finance team members, fostering professional development and maintaining high performance standards.
Cash Flow and Receivable Management
Monitor cash flow to ensure the organization’s liquidity and ability to meet operational and strategic obligations Optimize working capital through effective collection management Forecast short-term and long-term cash requirements, identifying opportunities to maximize yield and minimize risk.
Compliance, Risk Management, and Governance
Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, accounting standards, and internal policies. Coordinate external audits and manage relationships with auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies. Assess and mitigate financial risks, developing policies and procedures to safeguard the organization’s assets. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry best practices, accounting standards, and emerging regulatory trends.
Strategic Partnering and Cross-Functional Collaboration
Collaborate with department heads and business units to align financial strategies with organizational objectives. Lead or participate in cross-functional teams for business transformation, mergers, acquisitions, and other strategic initiatives.
Continuous Improvement and Systems Enhancement
Champion the adoption and optimization of financial systems, technologies, and automation tools. Identify and implement process improvements to drive efficiency, transparency, and cost-effectiveness. Encourage a culture of innovation and learning within the finance department. Qualifications and Skills Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree or professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, or CFA is preferred). Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in financial management, analysis, or related roles, with a solid track record of progressive responsibility. Comprehensive understanding of accounting principles (GAAP, IFRS), financial reporting, and internal controls. Strong analytical abilities and proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to manage teams and interact with stakeholders at all levels. Advanced proficiency in financial software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel; familiarity with data analytics tools is a plus. Demonstrated capability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to change, and work effectively in fast-paced environments. High ethical standards, integrity, and attention to detail. Proactive problem-solving skills and a strategic, business-oriented mindset.
