A leading company in the automotive sector seeks a Finance Manager to oversee financial operations. The ideal candidate will manage cash flow, analyze financial data, and ensure compliance with regulations. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential, along with a degree in finance or accounting and relevant certifications.
1. Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
Monitor and manage cash flow across all business segments, including trading of cars, workshop, car spa, and other services.
Optimize receivables and payables to maintain healthy working capital.
Monitor and manage cash flow, including bank balances, loan accounts, and foreign currency transactions.
2. Financial Operations & Oversight
Manage and oversee the daily operations of the finance and accounts department, including invoicing, stock movement, cash flow, and general ledger updates.
Prepare, review, and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and monthly financial statements.
Manage the implementation and compliance of e-invoicing for used car and related services.
Provide strategic input and able to give constructive ideas and recommendations for effective tax planning and financial optimization.
3. Inventory & Margin Analysis
Track buying and selling prices of used cars, factoring in reconditioning costs and depreciation.
Analyse gross profit margins by vehicle and identify slow-moving stock or pricing inefficiencies.
Regularly review ongoing car sales status and maintain detailed records of each vehicle’s financial transactions.
Ensure accurate reconciliation between vehicle purchases, refurbishments, and sales revenue.
Monitor vendor pricing to ensure competitiveness and review revenue and costs from car servicing, repairs, tinting, detailing, and other services.
Liaise with customers, suppliers, bankers, auditors, and tax agents on all finance-related matters including statements of account (SOA), invoices, payments, and compliance.
Coordinate with other departments (e.g., sales, service, operations) to support cross-functional alignment and financial accuracy.
5. Reporting & Compliance
Produce monthly management reports including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and segment performance.
Ensure compliance with Malaysian tax regulations, SST, and accounting standards (MPERS/MFRS).
Coordinate with auditors, tax agents, and relevant regulatory authorities.
Provide support to the Managing Director by preparing financial reports and insights for strategic decisions.
Perform any other ad-hoc tasks or financial duties assigned by the Managing Director or senior managements.
Qualifications & Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
· Professional certification (e.g. ACCA, CPA, CIMA, or equivalent) is highly preferred.
· Minimum 5 years of working experience in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
· Prior experience in the automotive, retail, or trading industry is an added advantage.
· Familiarity with used car sales, vehicle inventory management, and workshop/service operations is a plus.
· Self-motivated, capable to work well under pressure and independently.
Technical & Soft Skills
· Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
· Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., AutoCount, or equivalent) and Microsoft Excel.
· Able to prepare full sets of accounts, financial statements, and bank reconciliations.
· Skilled in cash flow management, inventory costing, and stock movement tracking.
· Comfortable handling multi-currency transactions and bank dealings.
· Detail-oriented, analytical, and well-organized.
· Strong leadership and team management capabilities.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with internal teams and external stakeholders (e.g. auditors, bankers, suppliers).
· High level of integrity, responsibility, and confidentiality in handling financial data.
· Ability to work independently and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
