Job summary

CLARIANT SPECIALTY CHEMICAL (M) SDN. BHD. is seeking a Finance Controller to oversee controlling activities across Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia, including cost center planning and month-end closing.

The role also covers Malaysia-specific accounting, tax reporting, and tax compliance. You will collaborate with GBS and support audits while driving process improvements. The ideal candidate holds a Finance/Accounting degree with 8+ years in an MNC, advanced Excel skills, and SAP experience.

Qualifications

• University degree in Finance or Accounting.
• 8+ years of relevant experience in an MNC.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with SAP.
• Some experience in Malaysian tax reporting.
• Ideally, experience working with a Shared Services Center.

Responsibilities

• Manage controlling activities: product costing, cost center planning, month-end closing for SG, MY, TH.
• Conduct monthly financial analysis of margin, SG&A and cost center expenses.
• Supervise commission and royalty processes; ensure accurate calculations.
• Ensure regional charge allocations are correct and timely.
• Oversee day-to-day accounting for Clariant Malaysia: AP, FA, cash, insurance.
• Support internal and external audits.
• Collaborate with GBS to ensure quality results and efficiency.
• Coordinate with GBS to execute finance processes on time with quality.
• Address controlling issues with Business Units and Functions.
• Ensure compliance with tax regulations and reporting (WHT, SST, CIT).

Job description

This position is based in Malaysia and reports to the Head of Finance APAC. The role is responsible for financial control across the Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia entities, and for accounting and tax activities for the Malaysia entity. It works closely with Global Business Services (GBS) on relevant topics and supports company management with analyses and queries.

Key responsibilities

Manage all controlling activities including product costing, cost center planning, month-end closing controlling tasks for the three legal entities in SG, MY, and TH

Conduct monthly financial analysis regarding margin, SG&A and cost center expenses

Supervise commission and royalty processes, ensure the quality of calculation

Ensure regional charges allocation processes are executed correctly and in a timely manner

Supervise day-to-day accounting activities of Clariant Malaysia entity, covering Accounts Payable (AP), Fixed Assets (FA), Cash Management, and Insurance

Support internal and external audits

Collaborate with Global Business Services (GBS) and provide guidance to ensure quality results and operational efficiency

Coordinate with GBS to ensure all finance-related processes and activities are executed on time with the required quality

Address controlling-related issues in a timely manner in coordination with respective Business Units and Functions.

Ensure compliance with all applicable tax regulations and reporting requirements, including Withholding Tax (WHT), Sales & Services Tax (SST), and Corporate Income Tax

About you

A university degree in Finance or Accounting

8+ years of relevant experience in an MNC

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience with SAP

Some experience in Malaysian tax reporting

Ideally, experience working with a Shared Services Center
