The Field Support Engineer is responsible for all aspects of equipment support performed at customer sites or prior to delivery, ensuring compliance with all company policies and standard operating procedures. This includes pre-delivery inspection, installation, commissioning, planned maintenance, troubleshooting, assessment, breakdown repair, and basic device maintenance in-service to customers.

He or she is the main contact point with local customers and may be responsible for providing quotations and negotiating discounts within their approved DOA.

Responsibilities may include the following, and other duties may be assigned:

  1. Effectively manage customer expectations and ensure compliance with SLAs and safety standards.
  2. Support last-minute calls to attend customer onsite visits during non-working hours.
  3. Assist in minor projects, including performing tests, interpreting data, and developing reports.
  4. Maintain working knowledge of all products and provide guidance to lower-level employees and third-party service provider engineers.
  5. Independently propose solutions to problems for supervisor review.
  6. Obtain and provide technical information on significant matters related to the job area.
  7. Assist in providing on-the-job guidance to other employees within the job area.
  8. Act as an escalation point for issues encountered in the field.
  9. Monitor certification status and highlight the need for re-certification.
  10. Coordinate test tool and spare part availability in the field.
  11. Communicate independently with biomedical engineers, the in-country commercial organization, and customers regarding product lifecycle management, upgrades, and new product introductions.
  12. Ensure all documentation and system entries are complete and up-to-date, exemplifying good documentation practices.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.
  2. Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or an advanced degree with 0 years of experience.
  3. In-depth experience with radiation medical devices for at least 2 years (preferred).
  4. Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of work experience; vocational or technical education or certification may be required.
  5. Experience in ICU, Operating Theatre, or relevant healthcare environments.
  6. Working knowledge of ISO13485 / GDPMD standards.
  7. Knowledge of operational systems, techniques, and practices gained through extensive experience or education.
  8. Proficiency in troubleshooting methods and capital equipment control.
  9. Experience with SAP / Service Max.
  10. Customer-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  11. Experience in service sales and promotion.
  12. Effective verbal and written communication skills in English.
