Job summary

Lam Research seeks a Field Service Engineer in Malaysia to install, relocate and commission Lam equipment at customer sites. You will perform on-site preventive maintenance, diagnose issues, and coordinate service actions to minimize downtime while supporting warranty and paid service tasks.

The group you’ll be a part ofThe Customer Support Business Group focuses on enabling our customers with premier customer support throughout their lifecycle with Lam. We drive performance, productivity, safety, and quality of customers installed base performance and deliver service and lifecycle solutions for their most critical equipment and processes.The impact you’ll makeAs a Field Service Engineer at Lam, you will step into the limelight of customersupport. You're on the front lines, understanding customer needs and collaboratingwith various teams to deliver solutions. In this role, you will be responsible forproviding quality repair and carrying out preventive maintenance service of Lametch / clean / deposition equipment at customer sites. Other activities includeinstallation, relocation of customer equipment, performing associated start-up, andtroubleshooting activities.What you’ll doInstall and/or relocate equipment at customers’ sites. Conduct associatedstart-up, cut over and check-out activities on the newly installed systemsProvide warranty tool support or paid service for out-of-warranty tool by performing on-site preventive maintenance of equipment and attending toequipment abnormalities.Coordinate all service actions with customer tominimize downtime or system interruptionsApply troubleshooting techniques to eliminate equipment malfunctions.Conduct diagnostic procedures to isolate problem. Assess severity ofmalfunctions and determine corrective actions required or escalate for assistance and prompt resolution. When necessary, replace defective units,components, or parts where appropriateImplement field modifications or updates as released in Engineering ChangeOrders (ECOs) which may involve removal and installation of assemblies, sub-assemblies, systems, and subsystemsCarry out Tier 2 process qualification workPrepare and maintain accurate logs, service records, part usage documentation, diagnostic updates, and other management reportsProfessionally represent the company to the customer. Utilize knowledge ofcompany’s product lines and services to keep existing / potential customersinformed when new/additional needs are identifiedDevelop good customer relations during installation and execution of servicecontractsMaintain company’s assigned equipment (computer, tool kit, diagnostic testequipment, spare parts, etc.) in good working condition, and ensure it issecure and accounted forTake on ad-hoc duties as and when assigned by the Immediate SupervisorWho we’re looking forMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree with no previous professional experience; or equivalentwork experience.This is a graduate eligible role.Self-starter who can work independently and has a deep desire to learn andgrow with the CompanyStrong interpersonal and communication skillsAble to actively engage customers on technical solutionsWilling to support short term, overseas assignmentAble to work swing shift (Tues – Sat and/or Sun – Thur)Proficiency in interpreting electrical and mechanical schematics, diagrams, andoperation manuals.Able to work in a clean room environment while wearing personal protectivesafety equipment, or cleanroom suit.Frequently position oneself (e.g., bend, stoop, reach, walk, sit, twist, squat,kneel, climb, stand) to perform job tasks for extended periods.Able to travel frequently (90% travelling to regions like Japan / Korea / Taiwan /US), domestically and internationally, based on customer needs, flexibility towork a variety shifts including compressed and alternative workweeks includingovertime and on-call if needed.Able to perform rostered 24/7 on call standby duty for a weekPreferred qualificationsProficiency in basic computer skills and familiarity with common office softwareincluding Microsoft Office Suite.Prior experience working in electronics field a plus.Communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.Foundational analytical and problem-solving skills.Our commitmentWe believe it is important for every person to feel valued, included, and empowered to achieve their full potential.
