A global cloud service provider is seeking a Field Data Center Operation Technician in Kuala Lumpur. The role involves installing and supporting AWS infrastructure in diverse environments, requiring technical troubleshooting skills and proficiency in English and Malay. The ideal candidate has over 3 years of experience in data center operations and is capable of conducting site assessments and troubleshooting network configurations.

AWS Global Field Operations provides the best end-to-end support for AWS products and services in non-traditional environments including Outposts Services and Edge Services. AWS Global Field Ops brings native AWS services, infrastructure, and operating models to virtually any data center, co-location space, or customer on-premises facility and edge sites. Customers can now use the same AWS APIs, tools, and infrastructure across their on-premises and the AWS cloud to deliver a truly consistent hybrid experience.
We are looking for a Field Data Center Operation Technician who is an experienced and highly motivated Data Center Technician to install and support AWS deployments in non-traditional environments. As a Global Field Operation technician, you will maintain and operate the world’s largest cloud computing infrastructure across a number of local and remote locations within Malaysia and APJC region.
This is a customer-facing role that requires strong technical, communication, and problem-solving skills. Your activities will include (but not limited to):
Conducting site assessments at various facilities to proactively prepare for the onsite installation of AWS equipment
Installing/expanding/provisioning AWS infrastructure at the third-party premises, data center, and/or non-traditional environment
You have previous hands-on technical troubleshooting experience and a proven ability for solving complex problems.
Troubleshooting network installations & configurations and performing network testing, basic break/fix and/or decommissioning
May lead or participate in efforts to develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and tools that improve operational efficiencies
You will have experience building relationships with internal teams and customers along with innovating effective solutions to meet issues & problems as they arise.
Proactively identifying and implementing strategies that prevent support issues and/or further enhance the customer experience
Communicating in English and Malay as needed, to conduct day-to-day business, both internally and with external customers
May lead larger projects that require cross-functional alignment and support, including large-DC installations, global-reaching business initiatives, and/or development of mechanisms to support growth to ensure compliance with global group standards.
You will be required to travel between locations to install, service, and retrieve AWS equipment.
May be required to work on-call rotations and/or on demand escalations in support of customer scheduling and/or time-sensitive escalations
May be required travel up to 50% on average - domestic and international.

Minimum 3 years of experiences in data center operations or a similar technical environment
Minimum 2 years hands-on experience with data center equipment and rack installation
English and Malay language proficiency is required
Experience in a customer-facing role, with the proven ability to manage and effectively communicate expectations to clients
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex IT problems and identify root causes
Knowledge of power, cooling, cabling, networking hardware, inventory management, and automation
Experience working in a program management capacity and/or leading large-scale complex projects
Proficiency in network operating systems (Cisco IOS, NX-OS, Junos) or industry server/network certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, CompTIA etc)
