Field Applications Engineer — Test Automation & On‑Site Support

Job summary

Iotronix in Penang seeks a qualified test automation engineer to install, maintain and troubleshoot test systems on site, ensuring maximum line availability and rapid issue resolution.

You will work with customers and internal teams, deploy and validate systems, implement upgrades, prepare reports, and create documentation. Travel for assignments is required; Mandarin, English and Malay skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Automation & Mechatronics, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in test automation development; EMS sector experience is a plus.
• Prior on-site support experience is preferred.
• Proficient in Mandarin, English and Malay is an advantage for engagement with diverse stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel for work assignments.
• Strong problem-solving ability and adaptability.

Responsibilities

• Perform on-site installation, daily maintenance, troubleshooting and rapid resolution of issues related to test systems to maximize production line availability.
• Communicate closely with customers and internal project teams to address relevant issues in project delivery in a timely manner.
• Support project delivery by deploying, installing, integrating and validating test systems (including automation line, fixture, test instruments and software) at customer sites.
• Implement upgrades and modifications to existing equipment based on engineering change request.
• Deploying, installing, debug and maintaining automation line, appearance machine, packing machine etc.
• Prepare ad-hoc reports and provide data driven insights for product and process improvement.
• Create and update technical documentation, including system configuration guides and troubleshooting procedures, and be responsible for customer training.
• Any ad-hoc tasks as per assigned by manager.
