Job description

This position is for K2 Data Centres, a company under Kuok (Singapore) Limited, based in Johor, Malaysia.

Purpose of the Role:

K2 is seeking a Facility Lead to provide leadership and management support of an operational Critical environment shift team providing 24/7/365 on-site support of a production data centre facility. The Facility Lead is responsible for emergency response and maintenance of critical services within the data center environment. The Facility Lead reports to the Operations Manager and lead the supervision of the FOC and the shift during his working day.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage and be responsible for the designated shift team, ensuring the successful operation, maintenance and repair of all critical environment systems while maintaining 100% uptime to all critical power systems on site at all times.

  • Activities typically include the planning of the shift teams work activities on a daily basis ensuring all aspects of the shift & facility are covered & monitored during your day. Paperwork associated with the planned maintenance visits of vendors - based on the main sub-contractor schedule for each contract year - is ready and in place for your shift team (Locks, tags, procedures etc.) Coordinate all of this to ensure a smooth running of the shift while also providing a point of contact for the client & management.

  • Prioritize and assign PPM’s /TT’s planned & unplanned work orders to your shift Data Center Specialists to achieve & maintain 100% compliance every month.

  • Adherence to all quality, health & safety, and environmental policies within the domain

  • Coordinate ongoing maintenance and activities within the Data Centre for your shift team. During your day you will have full overview & awareness of all activities and, in conjunction with the Critical Maintenance Manager, will prioritize these activities.

  • Ensure all subcontractors are inducted and permitted to work within the domain prior to issuing permits to work.

  • You and your team need to review subcontractor method statements, risk assessments, and MSDS to ensure compliance with site health & safety and operating procedures prior to you or your team issuing permit to works.

  • Ensure that the FOC is monitored and manned at all times and that EPMS, BMS, and Fire Systems alarms are responded to in a timely manner

  • Ensure completion of all your shift team’s scheduled PMs and ensure all your shift Data Centre Specialists carry out their scheduled PMs in a timely manner (PMs as issued through CAFM) to achieve 100% PM compliance.

  • Update and log all activities/time on CAFM. Ensure your shift team update & record all their time/activities on CAFM

  • Issue a daily Shift Handover report via email detailing activities and issues that have taken place and that require escalation. It is the leads responsibility to ensure that the shift report is accurately completed and sent out to the critical environments e-mail alias on time.

  • Ensure you wear the K2’s provided clothing and appropriate PPE at all times.

  • Adhere to and drive your shift team to achieve acceptable scores on the team KPI Scorecard as located on CAFM.

  • Provide input into and develop site specific procedures including EOPs, SOPs, MOPs, Aps and EOP Drills as issued by Management.

  • Ensure that you are fully conversant with the site Emergency Response Plan and co-operate with the SOC/FOC during site emergencies.

  • Report health and safety breaches and concerns to your manager as soon as possible.

  • Complete a minimum of 4 drills per month

  • Escort and supervise/monitor work of third-party engineers and sub-contractors to ensure their compliance with the site standards when performing maintenance or relevant activity.

  • Develop a good working relationship with all members of K2’s staff and the Customer representatives.

  • Carry out Toolbox talks once every shift rotation to achieve & exceed your shift teams monthly target. All tool box talks need to be signed off and issued to the contract support on completion.

  • Ensure the professional image of K2 is presented to clients and visitors at all times while on site.

  • Adhere to all K2’s quality, health & safety, and environmental policies and documentation requirements while performing work.

  • Undertake other tasks as defined and requested by local management.

  • The Facility Lead is the next point of contact – after the Shift cover technician – to cover shifts during emergency situations to provide holiday and sickness cover at short notice. You must be flexible in your working patterns to support requirements dictated by the rhythm of the business & operational demands.

Skills set and Qualifications Requirements

  • Minimum 5-10 years of working experience in a Data Centre environment preferably

  • Strong knowledge and experience in the data centre industry, including development and management of data centres.

  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, interpersonal, teamwork and collaboration skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills both in English and Bahasa Malay language.

  • Excellent project, planning, change and time management capabilities.

  • Good judgement and decision making skills.

  • Leadership and supervisory skills.

  • Strong organisational skills.

  • Ability to use computer applications effectively.
