Ansell is looking for a Facility Officer to join our team in Malacca!

In this position you will play a vital role in developing and implementing safety policies and procedures to ensure the MSIC facility complies with relevant standards and requirements. This role involves carrying out project tasks assigned by the Director, Manager, or Chemist, in alignment with project timelines and QMS Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), while promoting safe and effective practices in designated areas such as research laboratories and manufacturing plants.

The Facility officer also collaborates with Ansell's Procurement, Engineering, and other departments to source maintenance services and support R&D activities. Responsibilities include maintaining the building infrastructure and coordinating with vendors and contractors for renovations, repairs, and routine upkeep. This extends to managing cleaning services for offices and laboratories, overseeing space planning and logistics, and ensuring proper security and access control measures — ultimately contributing to a safe, functional, and supportive working environment for all MSIC team members.

What benefits and opportunities does Ansell offer?

  • Competitive compensation plan.
  • An inclusive and collaborative environment that values diversity and fosters an international culture.
  • Ansell University programs to develop professional and interpersonal skills.
  • Opportunities to advance and grow within the company.

What your role will be?

  • Develop and maintain safety policies and procedures; work collaboratively with the Manager, Chemist, and Person-in-Charge (PIC) on GLP and 5S implementation.
  • Conduct safety audits and assessments across all areas to achieve and sustain safety KPIs.
  • Serve as the key representative of MSIC R&D in the Environmental, Safety & Health (ESH) Committee and the Environmental Sub-Committee of Ansell NP Sdn. Bhd.
  • Plan, develop, and maintain MSIC R&D Melaka’s building infrastructure, facilities, equipment, and related services.
  • Collaborate with module and lab PICs to establish laboratory work environment requirements; coordinate with Chemists and Technicians on the storage, handling, and disposal of bulk chemicals (hazardous and non-hazardous) and chemical waste.
  • Ensure a safe, well-maintained, and conducive working environment for R&D activities, supporting good housekeeping and occupational safety.
  • Execute and complete project assignments as delegated by immediate superiors.
  • Coordinate with vendors and suppliers on pest control, housekeeping, repairs and maintenance, safety and security, and electrical, mechanical, and other utility services for the MSIC R&D facility.
  • Compile utility expense reports and prepare Capex budget provisions for the annual financial planning cycle.
  • Support Chemists and Technicians in preparing purchase requisitions (PRs) for R&D materials and services, monitor purchase order status with Ansell supply team and delivery status with suppliers, and ensure receipt of goods or services by designated personnel.

What will you bring to Ansell?

  • Diploma in facility management / engineering / building services and/or related field.
  • Years of practical experience supporting facilities management in a latex/medical device manufacturing or research and development setting, ensuring smooth daily operations in compliance with industry standards, especially if the education qualification is inadequate or not directly relevant.
  • Good understanding of laboratory operations and health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations; skilled in overseeing facility and laboratory services to support the safe and efficient execution of R&D activities.
  • Basic technical proficiency in electrical, mechanical, and plumbing systems, with the ability to support routine maintenance and coordinate repairs as needed.
  • Possess good communication skill with negotiation abilities, particularly in managing external vendors and contractors for service delivery, repairs, and project implementation.
  • Capable of managing day-to-day facility operations, including cost expenditure control, budgeting, and resource planning to ensure sustainable facility performance.
  • Familiar with OSHA (or equivalent local standards), and experienced in applying Quality Management System principles in line with ISO 13485 and QSR Part 820 within a facility support context.
  • Mature and possesses strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in reading and speaking the English language.
  • Basic IT literacy with knowledge of facility management software and systems (e.g., basic AutoCAD); capable of presenting data and information using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Able to resolve problems and handle crisis situations, making key decisions with appropriate supervision or guidance.
