Job summary

Westerndigital in Bayan Lepas, Penang, Malaysia seeks a facilities leader to manage HVAC and mechanical systems across plants. Lead operations, monitor system health, and oversee maintenance contracts to ensure reliability and regulatory compliance.

Ideal candidates hold a Mechanical Engineering degree with 5–10 years in semiconductor/electronics facilities; PMP or FMP is advantageous. Coordinate with contractors, consultants, and authorities as required.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• PMP or FMP would be an advantage.
• 5 to 10 years working experience in facilities related field in semiconductor or electronic industries.

Responsibilities

• Establish operation procedures, monitor systems, and repair maintenance.
• Review operating data to optimize the facilities operating system.
• Support production/manufacturing needs and requests.
• Coordinate with facilities peers & contractors on troubleshooting.
• Identify and drive cost-saving and improvement programs.
• Supervise contractor engineers and technicians to ensure compliance with specifications and regulations.
• Manage mechanical systems for multiple plants.
• Plan, organize, execute & control major shutdown maintenance.
• Ensure IMS, Contamination Control, 5S & safety compliance.
• Coordinate with contractors/consultants on facilities matters.

Job description

Lead, manage and take ownership on the overall operational health of the HVAC and Mechanical system Maintain, operate all HVAC systems and associated equipment, plumbing systems, building management system, and equipment repairs Manage capacity and design changes according to the requirements from manufacturing/customers Conduct and execute facility system improvements on reliability hardening, safety performance as well as cost optimization and reduction Perform facility inspections and report on condition affecting operations. Monitor and supervise HVAC preventive maintenance outsource service contracts Maintain compliance to local city and state government requirement and overall country legal legislation, ordinances and codes of practices. Liaison with relevant local government agencies and contractors Engage and liaison with consultants on mechanical system design and construction. Respond to emergencies. Comply with all safety procedures, practices and requirements Support any afterhours building needs and activities as required Attend training sessions and seminars and other assigned tasks as requested.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• To establish the operation procedure, system monitoring & repair maintenance of responsible sections.
• To review & analyze the operating data to optimize the Facilities operating system
• To support production / manufacturing needs and request
• To team up with all the facilities peers & contractors in troubleshooting the Facilities system
• To identified & drive the cost saving & improvement program
• To supervise contractor engineer and technician, routine job to ensure the HVAC & Mechanical system supporting production comply to specification and government regulation
• Manage Mechanical System for multiple Plants.
• To plan, organize, execute & control for the specific project
• To ensure compliance to IMS requirement, Contamination Control, 5S & Safety
• To liaise with contractor, consultant on the facilities related matters
• To coordinate the major plan shutdown maintenance
• To carry out special task as assigned by supervisor
• To support the activities to the company needs

REQUIRED

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• PMP (project management professional) or FMP (facility management professional) would be an advantage.
• 5 to 10 years working experience in the facilities related field in semiconductor or electronic or related industries
• Able to demonstrate the necessary competency in leadership, management and HVAC technical know how.

SKILLS

• Design knowledge in HVAC and cleanroom are preferred.
• Hands on experience in predictive and preventive maintenance
• Knowledge & application of Psychometric principles will be essentia
