We are looking for a dynamic Facilities Engineer to join our team. This position will support the Penang Facilities sites. Reporting to the Senior Facilities Manager, this position will be an active team member supporting the Facilities department programs and procedures that promote a well-managed and well-maintained site. The Facilities Engineer will primarily provide all aspects of facility engineering management, with problem solving as a key function. Subject areas will include gas detection systems, PLC programming, building management systems, preventive maintenance, supporting cost avoidance initiatives, and coordination of budgeting, maintaining records, and providing general support services for operations. The position will also participate in fostering a culture of employee health & safety and good corporate stewardship.

Responsibilities

  1. Provide technical support during construction, coordinate progress, report, and address issues arising.
  2. Manage contractors for new factory building, inspection, electrical system installation, testing, commissioning, and buyoff.
  3. Develop and implement preventive maintenance strategies for plant electrical facilities, machinery, and equipment to minimize power interruptions and breakdowns.
  4. Serve as the primary contact for electrical power failures, equipment breakdowns, and troubleshooting.
  5. Perform high voltage switching and scheduled maintenance work.
  6. Analyze energy usage for optimization and cost savings.
  7. Inspect and monitor high-tension and low voltage switchboards, transformers, switchgears, TNB sub-station, and generate technical reports.
  8. Supervise maintenance staff, suppliers, and contractors to ensure compliance with laws, standards, and safety requirements.
  9. Liaise with TNB, Suruhanjaya Tenaga, DOSH, and other regulatory bodies to ensure compliance.
  10. Plan, support, and coordinate major activities like annual shutdowns and overhauls.
  11. Remain on call for emergency maintenance and respond promptly.
  12. Maintain accurate electrical reports in a timely manner.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned by superiors.

Typical duties

  3. Utilize data analytics for operational improvements.
  4. Conduct reviews of mechanical and electrical systems, including site visits.
  5. Investigate facility problems and suggest improvements.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering with Competency Certificate in Electrical Chargeman BO 11/33kV or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience with troubleshooting skills in high & low voltage systems.
  • Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in troubleshooting electrical systems in manufacturing plants.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, BMS, and related tools.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Willingness to be on-call during emergencies.
  • Experience in factory startup is an advantage.
  • Ability to lead tasks or projects and demonstrate high integrity and reliability.
