Job summary

Penguin Solutions Penang, Malaysia, is seeking a Facilities Engineer to support daily operation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical systems in a manufacturing environment. You will respond to breakdowns, monitor solar PV performance, and help drive energy management initiatives with contractors and internal stakeholders.

The role requires an engineering degree, AO Chargeman certification, and 2–3 years of facilities experience.

Qualifications

Job Overview

The Facilities Engineer is responsible for supporting the daily operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the facility's mechanical and electrical (M&E) systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. This role oversees preventive and corrective maintenance activities, manages contractor performance, supports energy management initiatives, and ensures compliance with statutory, regulatory, and company requirements.

The Facilities Engineer will also respond to equipment breakdowns, monitor utility systems, and support facility improvement projects to maintain business continuity and operational excellence. This role aligns with facilities engineering responsibilities involving the maintenance, operation, and improvement of plant infrastructure and facilities systems.

Responsibilities

• Support daily operation and maintenance of M&E systems.
• Perform shift duties when required to cover staff on leave.
• Attend to and resolve M&E breakdowns and system failures promptly.
• Monitor solar PV systems to ensure optimal performance.
• Support energy management initiatives.
• Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
• Coordinate contractors for repair and maintenance works.
• Raise purchase requests for contractor works, including specifications for building maintenance and re-layout activities.
• Prepare and maintain reports, documentation, and audit records.
• Report on facilities maintenance activities and breakdowns
• Support and ensure compliance with all applicable statutory, regulatory, and facilities maintenance requirements.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering or related field
• Minimum Chargeman AO
• 2-3 years’ facilities maintenance experience in manufacturing environment.
• Apply logical fault finding and able to read schematic drawings to fix issues/defects.
• Act safely and securely and overcome challenges to produce successful solutions.
• Problem solving without requiring help or with minimum supervision.
• M&E and building maintenance skills and knowledge.
• Customer service orientated
• Internal stakeholders, including requesters from manufacturing and office departments.
• External contractors, vendors, and service providers
• Internal and external auditors
