British American Tobaccohas an exciting opportunity for a Senior Analyst – Planning & Reportingin Selangor.

This role is designed to support both transactional and analytical finance functions within the Global Business Services (GBS) environment. The incumbent will be responsible for driving financial transactions, performing reconciliations, supporting statutory and management reporting, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. The role ensures accurate financial data processing and insightful reporting to support business decision-making across markets.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Financial Operations & General Accounting

  • Carry out financial transactions and processes using SAP-ECC and BI systems.
  • Perform period-end closing activities, ensuring timely and accurate posting of transactions.
  • Conduct GL reconciliations and resolve reconciling items to maintain clean ledgers.
  • Analyze and clear balance sheet accounts, investigating unusual or suspicious transactions.
  • Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and analysis.
  • Maintain and update process documentation to support knowledge retention and training.
  • Provide backup support to team leads (F3) and assist in workload management.

Planning & Reporting

  • Support in the preparation of statutory and management reports, including financial documents and business performance packs.
  • Perform analytical reviews to validate the accuracy and reasonableness of financial data.
  • Assist in the preparation of submissions for Integrated Business Planning & Management (IBPM) processes.
  • Identify material movements and variances using pre-established templates and tools.
  • Ensure data integrity and quality in product costing and reporting systems.

Cross-functional Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Respond to inquiries from internal collaborators and end markets in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Identify improvement in execution opportunities and contribute to automation and efficiency initiatives.
  • Participate in system testing and migration projects to ensure smooth transitions and minimal disruption to operations.

What are we looking for?

Technical & Functional Skills

  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in SAP (ECC, BI) and Microsoft Office (Excel – advanced, PowerPoint – intermediate).
  • Experience in general ledger, reconciliations, and financial analysis.

Organizational & Analytical Skills

  • Ability to manage several priorities and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.
  • Capable of identifying risks and proposing effective solutions.

Communication & Customer Service

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proactive and customer-focused attitude.
  • Ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • 1–3 years of relevant experience in financial operations or reporting.
  • Experience in a shared services or multinational environment is an advantage.

Working Relationships

  • Internal: Finance teams, GBS colleagues, IT support, auditors.
  • External: End markets, external auditors, and other stakeholders.
