Job description

JOB SUMMARY

The Executive in the Social Policy Research section provides essential support to the team in conducting research and analysis on social policy issues. This role focuses on assisting in the development of research plans and methodologies, supporting data collection and analysis, and preparing comprehensive forms of research deliverables. The Executive also handles logistical and administrative duties related to research projects, including organizing meetings, coordinating stakeholder engagements, and managing project timelines and deliverables. This position is intended for individuals with some relevant work experience, offering an opportunity to build on existing knowledge and develop practical skills in social policy research, data analysis, and project coordination.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the development and successful execution of EPF’s research agenda, focusing on the diverse spectrum of social well-being, particularly in domains related to the SHINE-M framework (Shelter, Housing, Income, Nutrition, Education, Mobility).
  • Perform literature reviews, quantitative and qualitative analysis and assist in the preparation of various forms of research deliverables such as reports, articles and presentation materials.
  • Assist in data collection and compilation, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and data quality throughout the process.
  • Maintain and update research databases, ensuring the availability and accessibility of relevant data for both current and future analyses.
  • Assist in the publication of research findings and drafting of communication materials, such as articles, briefings, and updates, to engage internal and external stakeholders
  • Provide logistical and administrative support for research projects and stakeholder engagements (field work, meeting and group discussion, workshop, and event related to research initiatives).
  • Maintain project trackers and provide regular updates on the status of research tasks, helping ensure deadlines and objectives are met.
  • Candidates with interest and research experience in ageing, retirement, health, social care and labour market policy, are encouraged to apply.
  • Assist in the execution of events and programs organized by the Department to ensure their smooth operation, including managing interactions with relevant vendors and speakers.
  • Assist in adhoc requests as and when required by Head Of Department or Head Of Section or other delegated tasks within the department.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Malaysian citizen.
  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree (Honours) in relevant fields such as Economics, Social Sciences, Public Policy, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Data Science & Analytics, Sociology, Law, or equivalent qualifications recognised by the government from accredited local or overseas institutions. A Master’s or PhD qualification is an added advantage.
  • 3 to 7 years of professional experience in research, policy formulation and strategy.
  • Strong foundation in research methods and data analysis.
  • Strong in analytical skills specifically in analysing economic indicators and produce quantitative and qualitative analysis of the data.
  • Strong in writing, presentation, and communication.
  • Proficient in computer software and statistical packages, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, Tableau, E-Views, and Stata.
  • Ability to multitask and perform under pressure in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
