Starbucks in Malaysia is operated by Berjaya Starbucks Coffee Company Sdn Bhd., a licensee of Starbucks Coffee International Inc. and a wholly owned subsidiary of Berjaya Food Berhad. From its first store opening in Kuala Lumpur on 17 December 1998, Starbucks has complete presence across all 16 states and territories in Malaysia. Currently, there are 401 stores throughout Malaysia, including 77 Drive-Thru stores and 18 Reserve stores. After more than 24 years of operation in Malaysia, Starbucks has grown not only to become the favorite coffee place for Malaysians but also a productive member of communities across the country. Remaining as an industry leader, providing convenience for its customer, Starbucks Malaysia is vastly expanding with 45-50 store openings in one year.

From the very beginning, Starbucks has set itself out to be a different kind of company – to nurture the limitless possibilities of human connection, with every cup, every conversation, and every community.

At Starbucks, we are devoted to supporting, engaging and investing in the development of our partners. Our people are one of our most valuable assets and we provide learning opportunities to develop skills, further careers and help partners achieve their personal and professional goals. Aside from instilling coffee passion, Starbucks Malaysia extensively appreciates their partners with awards, acknowledging their hard work at both support centre and operations level. Such acknowledgments encourage a culture of appreciation amongst partners, building a sense of security in their value to the company, and motivating them to continue their great work.

By upholding a culture where inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility are valued and respected, Starbucks Malaysia opened the World’s first Starbucks Signing Store at Bangsar Village II, a store that is aimed at providing development and employment opportunities for the Deaf. The Starbucks Signing Store hopes to cultivate a culture of empowerment for the Deaf community, providing not only job opportunities but to ensure the development of their soft skills thus giving them a sense of pride and accomplishment to move forward in leading a functional and fulfilling life.

At Starbucks, we’re not just passionate purveyors of coffee, but everything else that goes with a full and rewarding coffeehouse experience. We differentiate ourselves from the rest by providing the finest coffee and a unique retail experience to its customers, that of a Third Place, for customers between home and place of work. Ultimately, we make sure everything we do is through the lens of humanity – from our commitment to the highest quality coffee in the world, to the way we engage with our customers and communities to do business responsibly.
