Job summary

MSIG Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur seeks a Claims Handler/Manager to assess, investigate, negotiate, and settle legitimate claims within company limits, ensuring prompt, fair, and cost-effective resolutions.

The role requires 3+ years in claims handling/management, a degree (preferably with professional insurance qualifications), and strong communications. You’ll liaise with underwriters, monitor reserves, and ensure BN Malaysia guidelines are followed in a hybrid workplace.

Qualifications

• Degree holder, preferably with professional insurance qualifications.
• Minimum 3 years of related Claims Handling/Management Experience.
• Good communication skills; written and spoken.
• Adequate knowledge in Underwriting and Claims.

Responsibilities

• Assess, investigate, negotiate, and settle claims within authorised limits.
• Provide prompt claims services to claimants and intermediaries.
• Review reserves periodically; pursue subrogation and recoveries.
• Ensure compliance with BN Malaysia guidelines and company policies.
• Liaise with underwriters and units on policy- and claims-related issues.

Job description

• Assess, investigate, negotiate, and settle legitimate claims within the personal authorisation limit provided by the Company, ensuring claims are handled promptly, fairly, and cost-effectively.


• Provide prompt and efficient claims services to claimants and intermediaries, monitor the efficiency of service providers to support the Company's service standards, and maintain proper recording and retention of claims documents and correspondence.


• Review and update claims reserves periodically to ensure the Company's interests are properly preserved, maintain appropriate and adequate claims reserves, and pursue subrogation and co-insurance/reinsurance recoveries.


• Ensure compliance with Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) guidelines, the Company's claims policies, Customer Service Standards, and the Claims Department's Quality Objectives; conduct scheduled claims reviews, minimise claims leakages, and elevate suspicious and/or fraudulent claims to superiors for thorough investigation and appropriate action.


• Liaise regularly with underwriters and business units on policy- and claims-related issues, report adverse claims trends to the Business Manager or Functional Manager, and complete any other tasks assigned by superiors.
