Job description

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support a wide range of financial reporting and analysis requirements, including managing and reporting to stakeholders such as External Auditors, Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), Group Board of Directors (BOD), and the Group Audit Committee of the Board (ACB), particularly on matters related to accounting standards, regulatory policies, and compliance frameworks.
  • Serve as the key reference point for updates or changes to financial reporting standards, BNM Guidelines, and Bursa Malaysia Listing Requirements that impact financial reporting.
  • Analyse the financial statements of the Bank and the Group—including income statements and balance sheets—on a monthly basis.
  • Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements, including drafting assigned notes to the accounts.
  • Exhibit proficiency in key accounting standards and assess the need for any accounting policy changes, providing advice and recommendations where necessary.
  • Review Expected Credit Loss (ECL) figures on a monthly basis and act as the secretariat for the Group Impairment Review Committee.
  • Prepare quarterly reporting papers for submission to the ACB and BOD.
  • Lead initiatives for process automation, streamlining, and enhancement. Develop checklists and maintain proper documentation trails for all key processes and procedures.
  • Monitor and follow up on the resolution of audit issues and outstanding matters raised by external auditors.
  • Undertake ad-hoc assignments and other responsibilities related to GFCO as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/ Finance/ Banking/ Business Administration/ Economic
  • Completed Professional Certification i.e. ACCA, ICAEW.
  • More than 3 years of experience in the field of similar role with focus on accounting.
  • Comfortable working in an Agile environment with cross-functional teams and iterative deliverables.
  • Excellent interpersonal and people engagement skills with the ability to build strong relationships.
  • Strong analytical skills with a proficient command of written and spoken English.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and thrive under tight deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • A team player with a collaborative mindset.
