Job summary

Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Malaysia Berhad is seeking a Co‑Chief Risk Officer to lead the Bank's risk management framework, ensure independent second-line oversight, and challenge material risk-taking activities across the Bank.

The CRO will oversee development of risk appetite, risk limits, stress testing, and risk reporting, while maintaining strong governance and regulatory engagement with senior management, the Board, and regulators.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Banking, Economics, Accounting, Business Administration, Risk Management or a related discipline.
• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in banking, financial services, risk management or related disciplines.
• Proven senior leadership with at least 5 years overseeing enterprise-wide risk governance.
• Experience engaging regulators, Board Committees and Senior Management on risk-related matters.
• Strong knowledge of risk management frameworks, risk appetite, stress testing and risk reporting.

Responsibilities

• Owns development, implementation, maintenance and effectiveness of the Bank's risk management framework.
• Lead the Risk Appetite Framework development and monitoring against approved risk limits.
• Oversee management of material risks including credit, market, liquidity, operational and other material risks.
• Ensure risk data integrity and appropriate protection of risk data used by Risk Management.
• Interact with regulators and the Board on risk governance and reporting.
