Job summary

Prudential Assurance Malaysia Berhad seeks a Bank Reconciliation Analyst to perform daily reconciliation of GL balances against bank statements and manage related activities. The role involves resolving open items, preparing journal entries, and ensuring SOP compliance.

You will work with internal and external stakeholders and support audit activities, bringing a detail-oriented and analytical mindset. The ideal candidate has a finance or accounting degree, 3+ years in financial services

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Degree in finance, accountancy, banking, investment, economics or equivalent.
  • ACCA/CPA/ICAEW or working towards designation is an added advantage.
  • At least 3 years of experience in financial services (insurance or banking).
  • Proficient in MS Office and financial accounting systems.
  • Knowledge of bank reconciliation systems is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving abilities.
  • Good command of Bahasa Malaysia and English.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills; able to work with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Reconcile GL bank balance with bank statements daily and accurately.
  • Reconcile receipts and payments for company operating bank accounts.
  • Investigate unreconciled items and resolve open items promptly.
  • Propose resolutions and perform matching in Bank Reconciliation System.
  • Prepare journal entries to resolve open items.
  • Prepare daily bank reconciliation reports.
  • Load data into Bank Reconciliation System daily with data integrity.
  • Monitor tickets and liaise with internal & external parties to resolve issues.
  • Ensure reconciliations comply with SOPs and deadlines.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders on bank reconciliation issues.
  • Support audit requirements related to bank reconciliation (external, GwIA, SOX).
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert for Bank Reconciliation System.
  • Engage in system enhancements and ad hoc tasks as required.

Job description

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform the reconciliation of GL bank balance against the bank statement balance.
  • Perform the reconciliation of receipts and payments of the Company’s operating bank accounts.
  • Perform investigation on the unreconciled items to ensure the open items are reconciled and resolved in a timely manner.
  • Propose the resolution of open items and perform matching in the Bank Reconciliation System.
  • Prepare the proposed journal entries to resolve the open items.
  • Prepare daily bank reconciliation report.
  • Perform data loading into Bank Reconciliation System on a daily basis and ensure no integrity issues.
  • Monitor tickets raised and liaise with both internal & external parties when there is any issue related to reconciliation and follow up closely to ensure issue resolved in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the bank reconciliation is performed in accordance to the relevant standard operating procedures.
  • Work closely with the relevant stakeholders on any issue arising from bank reconciliation.
  • Provide support on all issues identified from audit by external auditors, GwIA & Regional SOX team for bank reconciliation related area.
  • Subject Matter Expertise (SME) for Bank Reconciliation System.
  • Regularly engage in Bank Reconciliation System enhancement initiatives.
  • Assist with any ad hoc & administrative tasks upon request.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Bachelor or Degree in finance, accountancy, banking, investment, economics or equivalent.
  • Internationally recognized accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, ICAEW, etc.) or working towards designation will be an added advantage.
  • At least 3 years of working experience in the financial services industry such as insurance or banking.
  • Working experience in the financial services industry such as insurance or banking will be an added advantage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications & financial accounting system.
  • Knowledge in any bank reconciliation system will be an advantage.
  • Strong analytical and resolution skills.
  • Good command of Bahasa Malaysia and English.
  • Good interpersonal, communication and problem‑solving skills.
  • Independent, organized and possess good work ethics with a positive attitude.
  • Flexible and able to adapt in a dynamic environment.
  • Attention to details, meticulous and diligent.
  • Strict compliance with all applicable deadlines and able to work under pressure.
