Equipment & Facility Maintenance Manager
Oversees the upkeep, repair, and optimization of all production equipment, utilities, and facilities infrastructure to ensure operational efficiency, safety, and compliance with Malaysian regulations.
Responsible for leading the maintenance team, implementing preventive and corrective maintenance programs, ensuring safety compliance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to manage preventive and corrective maintenance programs.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations and maintenance of plant facilities, ensuring a safe, comfortable, and productive working environment for employees.
- Manage all aspects of equipment and facility maintenance to ensure optimal uptime and efficiency.
- Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance schedules.
- Establish key indicators for facilities and housekeeping.
- Lead and supervise maintenance technicians and contractors.
- Coordinate and manage facilities-related services including HVAC systems, air compressors, lighting, security, wastewater treatment, and janitorial services.
- Manage the allocation and maintenance of plant/office furniture and equipment.
- Coordinate facility upgrades, renovations, and equipment installations.
- Develop and manage maintenance/facility budgets, controlling costs without compromising quality, safety, or timeliness.
- Ensure compliance with Malaysian safety standards (e.g., OSHA, DOSH, CIDB) and environmental regulations.
- Maintain proper documentation for equipment, maintenance logs, and safety records.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex mechanical, electrical, and facility-related issues.
- Liaise with suppliers, service providers, and external inspectors.
- Support audits related to equipment and facilities.
- Responsible for plant-wide building maintenance, landscaping, and sanitation systems.
- Collaborate with Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, and Structural contractors on plant/building renovation and expansion projects.
- Implement and oversee energy conservation programs.
- Maintain all inspection, audit, and maintenance records.
- Ensure ethical and accurate reporting of company records.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment performance and energy efficiency.
Education, Experience, and Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or 7-10 years in Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related fields, with Lean Leadership experience preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of related experience in EHS & Facilities management in manufacturing or related industries, with at least 5 years in a management position.
- Strong understanding of building systems and infrastructure management.
- Ability to develop and implement safety and compliance policies and procedures.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to engage employees at all levels.
- Strong problem-solving skills and emergency handling capabilities.
- Experience with sustainability and energy management initiatives.
- Familiarity with ISO standards and auditing processes.
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and building systems.
- Familiar with Malaysian statutory requirements (e.g., BOMBA, DOE, DOSH, TNB).
- Proficient in maintenance management systems (CMMS) and Microsoft Office tools.
- Well-versed in RBA requirements.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 & ISO 45001 OSHMS or equivalent.
- Knowledge of OSHA, EQA, and other regulatory requirements.
- Certified in Occupational Safety & Health (SHO) or equivalent is an advantage.
- Highly organized with multi-tasking abilities.
- Strong leadership, interpersonal, verbal & written communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Willing to work on off days, public holidays, after hours, and attend to emergencies as needed.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
