Job summary

Enovix Malaysia SDN. BHD. is seeking an experienced Equipment Engineering leader to guide development and manufacturing automation initiatives. You will drive supplier collaborations, lead the Equipment Engineering team, and push for reliable, scalable equipment solutions to support NPI and high-volume production.

The role requires hands-on leadership, deep knowledge of automation, and a proven track record in improving OEE, uptime, and cycle times in fast-paced manufacturing environments.

Qualifications

  • 12+ years of relevant experience in automated manufacturing equipment with leadership experience.
  • Strong automation equipment development and integration experience.
  • Experience with manufacturing scale-up and production ramp in fast-paced environments.
  • Strong knowledge of automation technologies (PLCs, motion control, sensors, vision).
  • Experience with suppliers, system integrators, and external partners.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Equipment Engineering team and provide technical direction, coaching, and development to engineers and technical personnel.
  • Lead the development, procurement, installation, qualification, and commissioning of customized automated manufacturing equipment and tooling.
  • Partner with equipment suppliers and technology partners to develop and optimize equipment design, functionality, reliability, and manufacturing readiness.
  • Drive equipment strategy and readiness to support manufacturing scale-up, new product introduction (NPI), and production ramp.
  • Lead equipment troubleshooting and escalation activities to resolve complex technical and production issues.
  • Drive improvements in equipment uptime, cycle time, yield, reliability, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
  • Utilize equipment performance data and statistical analysis to identify improvement opportunities and drive corrective and preventive actions.
  • Establish and execute continuous improvement roadmaps for existing manufacturing equipment and automation systems.
  • Implement appropriate statistical process controls and equipment monitoring methodologies to improve process stability and equipment performance.
  • Lead root cause analysis and systematic problem-solving activities for critical equipment and manufacturing issues.
  • Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Controls, Quality, Product Development, and other cross-functional teams to achieve operational objectives.
  • Manage equipment suppliers to ensure technical requirements, project schedules, quality standards, and performance expectations are achieved.
  • Support equipment capacity planning, capital equipment requirements, and manufacturing expansion activities.
  • Establish equipment engineering standards, best practices, documentation, and knowledge-sharing processes.
  • Effectively communicate technical findings, project status, risks, lessons learned, and improvement plans to senior leadership and key stakeholders.

Job Summary

This role will provide technical and organizational leadership across equipment development and manufacturing operations, working closely with internal engineering teams, Operations, and external equipment suppliers to successfully transition new equipment and technologies from development into stable high-volume manufacturing. The successful candidate will be a hands‑on engineering leader with strong experience in automation, equipment development, manufacturing scale‑up, supplier management, and equipment performance improvement.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 12+ years of relevant experience supporting automated manufacturing equipment, with demonstrated leadership experience in an engineering or manufacturing organization.
  • Strong experience in automation equipment development, equipment integration, qualification, commissioning, and high‑volume manufacturing support.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting manufacturing scale‑up and production ramp in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of industrial automation technologies, including PLCs, motion control, motors, pneumatics, sensors, digital/analog I/O, temperature controllers, machine vision, and related control systems.
  • Experience working with equipment suppliers, system integrators, and external engineering partners.
  • Strong knowledge of equipment troubleshooting, root cause analysis, preventive maintenance, reliability improvement, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience using equipment performance metrics such as OEE, uptime, MTBF, MTTR, cycle time, and yield to drive improvement.
  • Familiarity with CAD and engineering design tools.
  • Strong project management capability with the ability to manage multiple equipment projects and changing business priorities simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and influence cross‑functional teams and effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent verbal, written, documentation, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving capability with a hands‑on approach to resolving technical challenges.
  • Independent, self‑motivated, adaptable, and comfortable working in a dynamic and rapidly evolving manufacturing environment.
