Job summary

Gateway Search in Malaysia is seeking an Equipment Engineer to support production line setup, reliability, and continuous optimization in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

The role focuses on installing and commissioning lines, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and driving OEE and yield improvements. Experience in electronics or lithium-ion battery manufacturing is highly preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Automation Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in equipment maintenance, troubleshooting or process improvement in manufacturing.
• Experience in electronics manufacturing or lithium-ion battery manufacturing preferred.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, engineering drawings, tolerance analysis, and equipment maintenance methodologies.
• Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

• Lead new production line setup, including equipment installation, commissioning, evaluation, and acceptance to ensure smooth project delivery.
• Develop and execute preventive maintenance plans to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
• Perform equipment troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions for recurring failures.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on OEE, process capability, and yield enhancement.
• Support equipment upgrades, automation improvements, and technical optimization projects.
• Participate in product failure analysis and support corrective actions related to quality issues or customer complaints.
• Manage tooling, fixtures, and spare parts usage with cost control awareness.
• Ensure compliance with company EHS policies, procedures, and training requirements.

• Support equipment upgrades, automation improvements, and technical optimization projects.
• Participate in product failure analysis (FA) and support corrective actions related to quality issues or customer complaints.
• Manage tooling, fixtures, and spare parts usage with cost control awareness.
• Ensure compliance with company EHS (Environmental, Health & Safety) policies, procedures, and training requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or related disciplines.
• Minimum 2 years of working experience in equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, or process improvement within manufacturing environments.
• Experience in electronics manufacturing or lithium-ion battery manufacturing is highly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, engineering drawings, tolerance analysis, and equipment maintenance methodologies.
• Familiarity with engineering software such as SolidWorks is an advantage.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and continuous improvement mindset.
• Able to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
