Job summary

Western Digital in Malaysia is seeking an Equipment Engineer for Manufacturing Engineering in Sarawak. The role focuses on supporting substrate manufacturing equipment, achieving stability, quality, yield, and OEE through hands-on ownership and engineering analysis.

The engineer will contribute to data-driven research, automation improvements, and integration of control systems, with a strong emphasis on problem solving and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics, or Mechatronics.
• CS with hardware exposure/interest encouraged to apply.
• SolidWorks proficiency is an advantage.
• Programming/data analysis skills in MATLAB, Python, C++, or R are advantageous.
• Knowledge of Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, and Structural Mechanics is advantageous.
• Experience in technical report writing, field data collection, and equipment condition assessment.

Responsibilities

• Provide Equipment Maintenance and Troubleshooting support to Manufacturing.
• Perform data analysis to identify inefficiencies and recommend enhancements.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and maintain automation equipment and processes.
• Assist in designing, testing, and implementing automation solutions (hardware/software).
• Collaborate with engineering teams to identify automation improvements.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering / Electrical & Electronics Engineering / Mechatronics Engineering
