Job summary

Flex is seeking an Equipment Engineer located in Batu Kawan, Penang to support maintenance and calibration across manufacturing lines. The role involves troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and calibration tasks to keep equipment performing at peak levels.

You will assist engineers with equipment installation and removal, maintain logs, and may travel to other Flex sites or vendors. A hands-on mechanical/electrical background is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
• Minimum 5 years of equivalent Equipment Engineer experience.
• Strong troubleshooting and calibration skills required.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot machine malfunctions and isolate failure modes.
• Perform preventive maintenance at scheduled intervals.
• Conduct calibrations and re-qualifications on equipment.

Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add Equipment Engineer located in Batu Kawan, Penang.

What a typical day looks like

• Through troubleshooting, identifies machine malfunctions and isolates the failure mechanism.
• Repairs the failure mechanism in the most cost-effective manner.
• Performs preventive maintenance at specified intervals and schedules.
• Performs calibrations and re-qualifications on equipment at specified intervals and schedules.
• Assists process technicians and engineers with the installation and removal of process equipment.
• Researches and implements corrective action reports and process tracking mechanisms.
• Records times and problems in equipment logs.
• Provides daily equipment functioning activity information.
• Sets up standard and special purpose laboratory equipment to test, evaluate and calibrate other instruments and test equipment.
• Disassembles instruments and equipment and inspects components for defects.
• Aligns repairs, replaces and balances component parts and circuitry.
• Devises formulas to solve problems in measurements and calibrations.
• Assists engineers in formulating test, calibration, repair and evaluation plans and procedures to maintain precision accuracy of measuring, recording and indicating instruments and equipment.
• May require travel to other Flex sites or equipment vendors’ locations.
• Highest level may perform both software and hardware maintenance.

Specialized Job

• Allocating work to a team of fitters.
• Checking and calibrating instruments to make sure they are accurate.
• Fitting new parts.
• Carrying out quality inspections
• Acknowledging immediately to equipment breakdowns.
• Fixing faults on site or arranging for replacement machinery or equipment to be installed.
• Keeping production managers informed of progress.
• Organizing teams or unipersonal to make sure that 24-hour cover is available.
• Working on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic or computerized systems.

The experience we’re looking to add to our team

Typically requires a Bachelor degree in related field and 5 years of equivalent experience.
