Job description

Job Purpose:

To lead and support the plantation’s environmental sustainability initiatives, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and best practices for waste and natural resource management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and manage the handling of scheduled waste and ensure proper documentation and disposal in line with DOE requirements.
  • Liaise with the Department of Environment (DOE) for licensing, reporting, and audit matters.
  • Submit reports such as Environmental Monitoring Reports, Scheduled Waste Inventory, and EIA/EMP documentation.
  • Support implementation of best environmental practices across plantation operations (e.g., water conservation, pesticide control, runoff prevention).
  • Promote environmental awareness among workers through training and communication.
  • Inspect field operations and facilities to ensure proper waste segregation, storage, and chemical handling.
  • Maintain and update environmental compliance documentation, licenses, and SOPs.
  • Conduct internal environmental audits and assist during DOE inspections.
  • Coordinate with estate operations team to align environmental practices with daily field work.
  • Track and monitor key environmental indicators (e.g., water quality, soil condition, emissions).
  • Ensure Emergency Response Plans (ERP) related to environmental risk are communicated and functional.

Candidate Profile:

  • Minimum SPM qualification; diploma/degree in Environmental Science, Agriculture, or related fields is an advantage.
  • CEPSWaM and/or Environmental Officer (EO) certifications are a plus — salary will reflect certification level.
  • Candidates without certification but with relevant interest/education are welcome to apply; company will support certification pathway.
  • Must pass a thesis-based professional exam to qualify for CEPSWaM or EO roles (training provided).
  • Annual CPD/CEB point renewal is required post-certification.
  • Strong sense of responsibility for sustainability and environmental protection.
  • Willing to stay and work full-time on-site in a plantation environment.
  • Physically fit, detail-oriented, and a proactive problem-solver.
