Job summary

A leading rice vermicelli manufacturer in Kulai, Johor is seeking an Environmental Officer to manage wastewater treatment processes and ensure compliance with DOE regulations. The ideal candidate will have a CePIETSO-BP certification and at least 3 years of experience in environmental management, alongside strong analytical and problem-solving skills. This role is critical to our operations as we expand our environmental commitment while maintaining high-quality production standards.

Job description

Ensure daily water treatment quality complies with discharge limits before release.

Operate and manage the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) and all related systems.

Conduct routine inspection and maintenance of WWTP equipment and pipelines.

Prepare and submit monthly environmental performance monitoring reports as required by the Department of Environment (DOE).

Liaise with DOE officers for licensing, audits, and environmental compliance issues.

Conduct in-house wastewater testing and prepare samples for third-party lab analysis.

Monitor and ensure final discharge water meets DOE and regulatory requirements.

Apply 5S housekeeping principles and support continuous improvement of environmental management systems.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation, records, and reports on water quality, effluent performance, and corrective actions.

Job Requirements:

Must be a competent person certified under CePIETSO-BP (Certified Environmental Professional in Industrial Effluent Treatment System – Biological Process).

Minimum 3 years of working experience in environmental management, especially related to wastewater treatment in a manufacturing/FMCG setup.

Strong knowledge of DOE regulations, water quality standards, and wastewater treatment process and equipment.

Good analytical, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills.

Ability to perform under pressure and manage environmental responsibilities independently.

Proficient in preparing environmental reports and communicating with regulatory authorities.

Familiar with ISO, HACCP, FSSC 22000 systems related to environmental compliance.
