Job summary

Quaker Houghton’s Selangor site is seeking a Safety & Health Officer (SHO) to lead the EHS team and implement safety programs across the site. The SHO will translate global EHS policies into local actions, drive continuous improvement, and advise site leadership on risk management and incident prevention, ensuring compliance with Malaysian regulations and Quaker Houghton standards.

Qualifications

• DOSH/JKKP SHO registration is essential.
• Degree in OSH or related field required.
• Minimum 5 years EHS experience in relevant industries.
• Excellent command of English, written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Lead the EHS team to promote safety culture at the site.
• Oversee EHS performance, engagement and development.
• Ensure compliance with Malaysian EHS requirements and liaise with DOSH/JKKP.
• Conduct HIRARC, inspections, audits and hazard assessments.
• Manage incident investigations and follow-up actions.
• Support process safety, safe work procedures and permit-to-work systems.
• Monitor contractor safety and compliance.
• Deliver safety training, inductions and toolbox talks.
• Coordinate emergency response plans, ERT activities and drills.
• Support occupational health and employee safety programs.

Job description

As Safety & Health Officer (SHO) at our Dipsol Selangor site, you will lead the EHS team and safety and health programs, creating a safe and proactive working environment for all stakeholders internal and external. As the DOSH/JKKP-registered competent person, you will ensure compliance with Malaysian regulations and Quaker Houghton standards, while advising site leadership on risk management, accident prevention, and workplace safety.

You will also implement our global EHS policies and best practices in Malaysia, translating global standards into effective local actions and driving continuous improvement. Through strong team leadership and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, you will strengthen our safety culture and help us build a better tomorrow for our people, partners, and communities.

What will you do?

• Lead and promote a strong safety culture across the site
• Lead the EHS team to ensure their performance, engagement and development
• Ensure compliance with Malaysian EHS requirements and liaise with DOSH/JKKP

What are we looking for?

• Registered DOSH/JKKP Safety & Health Officer (SHO)
• Diploma or bachelor's degree in occupational safety & health, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field
• Strong knowledge of Malaysian occupational safety and health legislation
• English written and spoken at a high level
• Minimum 5 years of EHS experience in manufacturing, chemical, petrochemical, oil & gas or heavy industry
• Experience dealing with regulatory authorities and compliance audits
• Proven experience in incident investigation and risk management
