Job description

Job Responsibilities

  1. Conduct technical assessments for systems, equipment, and machinery to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
  2. Identify and implement technical solutions that reduce pollution, waste, and resource consumption in line with sustainability goals.
  3. Monitor and report Q/ESH performance indicators, and recommend corrective and preventive measures for continual improvement.
  4. Establish and maintain fire prevention systems, and lead emergency preparedness and response activities including fire safety and evacuation drills.
  5. Ensure compliance with all Q/ESH legal and regulatory requirements; maintain awareness of latest legislative updates.
  6. Liaise with relevant government authorities on Q/ESH matters and manage the renewal and application of required permits (e.g., Unfired Pressure Vessels, cranes, boilers, and other regulated equipment).
  7. Manage waste disposal processes to ensure adherence to environmental compliance standards.
  8. Develop, maintain, and update ESH-related documentation, including ISO compliance documents.
  9. Review and verify departmental Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) and Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, and Control (HIRAC), ensuring timely completion and accuracy.
  10. Conduct accident and incident investigations, and facilitate corrective and preventive action planning, including countermeasure meetings.
  11. Organize Q/ESH campaigns and awareness initiatives to foster a safety-conscious culture.
  12. Conduct scheduled waste management training to ensure adherence to legal and regulatory standards.

Job Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, or Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) or a related field.
  2. Certified Safety and Health Officer (SHO).
  3. Certified Environmental Professional in Scheduled Waste Management (CePSWaM) – Competent Person.
  4. Proven competency in ISO 14001, particularly in Scheduled Waste Management.
  5. Solid understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001 standards.
  6. Knowledge of local legal and regulatory requirements, including the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) Amendments 2022 and the Environmental Quality Act (EQA) 1974.
  7. Hands-on experience in Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment and Control (HIRAC), Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), accident investigation, and incident reporting.
  8. Trained and certified in firefighting and first aid.
  9. Experience in conducting internal audits for Q/ESH compliance.
