Job summary

bp is reinventing itself with digital capability at the core. As an Endur Technology Engineer (DevOps Support Analyst), you will be an experienced Endur practitioner within bp’s Gas and Power Trading division, supporting Endur and related ERTM systems to manage trading activity.

You will work in a collaborative, change‑driven environment, applying agile delivery, multi‑disciplinary teamwork and continuous improvement to optimize operations and user experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, economics or a numerate degree.
• At least 3 years of hands‑on and demonstrable experience in using, extending and problem solving in Endur.
• Proven familiarity with the overall Endur architecture and data model, including core simulation results and modules like APM, Market Explorer, TPM, Connex and EOD Workflows.
• Experience supporting end users in a Trading or Financial organization, translating business context into system deliverables.
• Depth in Front/ Mid/ Back office or Ops experience and ability to escalate to 2nd/3rd line teams.
• Experience with at least one globally traded market, preferably physical commodities.
• Strong business stakeholder communications.
• Experience with ITRS Geneos, Trayport, Equias/CMS.
• Experience of AWS platforms and Azure DevOps.

Responsibilities

• Advocate for safety and promote a culture of security in all activities.
• Collaborate with Software Engineers, Enterprise Tech Engineers, Designers, SecOps and Product Owners to deliver value.
• Work with vendors to optimize the technology platform usage.

As an Endur Technology Engineer or known as Enterprise Technology Engineer (DevOps Support Analyst) in bp, you are an experienced Endur practitioner with a deep level of application and trading expertise. Endur Technology Engineers work within bp’s Gas and Power Trading division on the core trading and risk management platform, Endur. You will bring knowledge of commodity trading and the use of ERTM systems to manage this activity. You will be familiar with both the business application of these technologies and the broad concepts behind Agile technology delivery and DevOps.

European Gas & Power (EGP) is part of bp’s trading business based in Canary Wharf, London. It is front and centre in bp’s plans to move away from Oil to a future of renewable energy. The gas business is a crucial element of this transition providing base load capacity and the ability to meet peak demand, while the power business is investing heavily in wind and solar. Their power strategy includes reaching 12GW of renewable power by 2030; which equates to one third of the UK’s total current demand.

Key Accountabilities

• The safety of our people and our customers is our highest priority. The role will advocate and lead in this and promote a culture of security and safety in everything that we do.
• Work as part of evolving multi-disciplinary teams which may include Software Engineers, Enterprise Technology Engineers, Designers, SecOps, and Product owners to deliver value through the application of specialist skills
• Work with vendors and partners providing market solutions to optimize the usage and value which can be delivered from the appropriate technology platform
• Ensure operational integrity of what you build, assuring operational compliance with architectural and security standards, as well as compliance and policy controls refined by Strategy.
• Define and document standard run books and operating procedures. Create and maintain system information and architecture diagrams.

What you will need to be successful (experience and qualifications)

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, economics or a numerate degree

• At least 3 years of hands‑on and demonstrable experience in using, extending and problem solving in Endur.

• Proven familiarity with the overall Endur architecture and data model, including understanding of core simulation results and modules of Endur such as APM, Market Explorer, TPM, Connex and EOD Workflows.

• Experience of supporting end users’ day to day operations within a Trading or Financial organization, demonstrating ability to translate business context/language into system deliverables to resolve issues.

• Depth in experience working in at least one area of Front/Mid/Back office or Operations.

• Escalating to and working with 2nd, 3rd line teams to ensure issues and problems are resolved in a timely manner.

• Experience working on at least one globally traded market, preferably physical commodities.

• Strong business stakeholder communications.

• Experience of the ITRS Geneos platform (used for monitoring and alerting)

• Experience of supporting other vendor applications including Trayport, Equias/CMS

• Experience of AWS platforms and technologies

• Experience of Azure DevOps and Service Now incident management principles
