Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) Specialist

Overview

The EDW Specialist will work closely with users, the ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) team, and data modelers to advise and ensure optimization of database architecture, Logical Data Model (LDM), and Product Data Management (PDM) design best practices. They will also develop and deliver the Data Lake strategy and roadmap, architecture, guiding principles, and best practices. The key responsibilities include:

Key Responsibilities

1. Database Management and Performance Tuning

• Analyze and perform query fine-tuning
• Monitor and report on system utilization and node performance
• Tune resource-intensive queries using techniques such as indexing, query rewriting, and gathering statistics

• Ensure data optimization and process improvement
• Develop and ensure timely delivery of reports and data processes
• Design, develop, test, and implement technical solutions for projects and daily requests

• Research on projects, change requests, and problem resolution
• Support future applications and services with the HLB Data Lake solution

• Monitor technical tasks and ensure deliverables within timelines
• Collaborate with Business and IT Project Managers and business users for UAT support
• Provide production support and resolve outages promptly

• Vendor management
• Big Data enhancements
• Research & Development activities on new technologies

Jobholder Requirements:

Education/Qualifications

• Malaysian citizen
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college
• Professional certifications (e.g., Teradata, PostgreSQL, Informatica)

Experience & Skillsets

• 3 to 5 years of experience in:
• Data warehouse architecture and toolset capabilities
• Information management best practices
• SQL proficiency and hands-on experience
• ETL methodologies
• Handling user requirements in at least 2 implementation projects
• Knowledge of Big Data tools like Hive and Spark
• System knowledge: Linux/Unix
• Utilities: Teradata utilities, Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), Informatica, NetBackup
• Database experience: Teradata, PostgresSQL
