Job Details:

Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled Engineering Manager – Compound (Internal & External) to oversee and optimize our internal and external compounding operations. This role is responsible for ensuring the efficiency, reliability, and compliance of compounding processes while coordinating with internal teams and external partners. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in compounding systems, maintenance, process optimization, and stakeholder collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Compounding Process & Equipment Management
    • Oversee and manage both internal and external compounding operations to ensure high efficiency and quality standards.
    • Monitor equipment performance and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
    • Lead troubleshooting efforts for mechanical, electrical, and process-related issues.
    • Ensure optimal formulation consistency and adherence to production requirements.
  2. Maintenance & Reliability
    • Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs for compounding machinery.
    • Work closely with maintenance teams to enhance equipment reliability and reduce breakdowns.
    • Manage spare parts inventory and procurement for critical equipment.
    • Analyze failure modes and improve asset management strategies.
  3. Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement
    • Identify and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
    • Collaborate with R&D, production, and quality teams to optimize compounding formulas and processes.
    • Apply Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other methodologies to reduce waste and improve yield.
    • Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), downtime, and production rates.
  4. Compliance, Safety & Quality
    • Ensure all compounding operations comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
    • Implement and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for safe and efficient operations.
    • Conduct risk assessments and enforce workplace safety measures.
    • Collaborate with the Quality team to address deviations and non-conformances.
  5. Coordination with Internal & External Stakeholders
    • Serve as the key liaison between internal teams and external suppliers/contractors.
    • Manage relationships with external compounding service providers and ensure adherence to agreements.
    • Work closely with procurement teams for raw material planning and vendor selection.
    • Support new product development and modifications in compounding processes.
  6. Budget & Cost Management
    • Develop and manage the engineering budget for compounding operations.
    • Optimize operational costs while maintaining efficiency and quality.
    • Identify cost-saving opportunities in maintenance, process improvement, and supplier contracts.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in compounding, engineering management, or a related field in manufacturing or food industries.
  • Strong technical understanding of basic manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, problem-solving, analysis, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong knowledge of compounding processes, mixing technologies, and material properties.
  • Familiarity with PLC-based automation, process control systems, and industrial machinery.
  • Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) or SAP for maintenance planning.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and ERP systems.
