Summary

The Supplier Quality Engineer works closely with supply chain, quality, manufacturing, and the engineering department to facilitate and manage successful supplier partnerships to ensure supply chain objectives and improve quality performance. The Engineer supports supply chain in the selection and qualification of suppliers and owns the process of qualifying the parts, products, or services being procured. In addition, maintain supplier performance metrics and measurements, facilitate product and process improvements, and manage compliance to quality requirements. The Engineer also provides engineering and technical assistance to suppliers as required, establishes, compiles, produces, and analyzes quality reports to discern quality levels and implement corrective action as appropriate.

Detailed Description

  1. Exhibit teamwork skills and actively participate in team activities.
  2. Identify opportunities for improvement within supplier processes and assist, as necessary, with the development and implementation of these improvement activities.
  3. Communicate with suppliers and internal customers on product quality concerns and initiate corrective and/or preventive actions for these concerns.
  4. Participate in continual improvement programs and activities to support the achievement of department KPI.
  5. Initiate, review, and track Supplier Corrective Actions Requests until actions have been implemented and verified as effective.
  6. Maintain SQE MRB area.
  7. Facilitate and supervise all sorting activities for material disposition when applicable.
  8. Monitor supplier performance, conduct supplier audits, and manage the FAIR process.
  9. Track, report, and analyze supplier nonconforming material and/or scrap.
  10. Experience with MS Office applications and MS Windows operating systems, SAP.
  11. Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications.
  12. Familiar with the contract manufacturing industry.

Typical Experience

3-5 years experience in mechanical part commodity, PCB industry.

Typical Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/E&E engineering or related subject.
