We are currently seeking a Piping Engineer (Design) to join our team based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Successful candidate would be offered fixed term employment.

About The Job

About the role:

The Piping Engineer shall design, route, and consider the equipment and piping design modeled to meet the objectives and in accordance with the relevant document requirements.

His responsibilities shall include but not be limited to the following:

  • Prepare 3D model and perform piping study for all equipment, based on the following:
  • Ensure latest inputs of Equipment Vendor Data, Equipment Layouts, Equipment List, Plot Plans, etc., are implemented.
  • Maintain conformity with Project Specifications and Requirements, considering accessibility, operability, and maintainability of equipment (e.g., nozzle orientation, equipment elevations, ladders, service platforms, PSV lines, fire water network, etc.).
  • Coordinate closely with Mechanical Equipment Engineer to ensure vendor data availability and highlight missing data.
  • Perform pipe routing study and modeling of all lines ≥ 2 inches.
  • Maintain conformity to P&ID and Line List, ensuring process requirements such as slope, free flow, and no pockets are incorporated.
  • Ensure compliance with JSD for Piping Design, Workplace Design Specification, and Working Instruction.
  • Incorporate Stress Calculation Notes into Piping Design.
  • Consider Pipe Spacing (insulation thickness, guides, and stoppers).
  • Consider pipe flexibility for stress lines categories 1, 2, and 3.
  • Prepare operation and maintenance space such as ladders, stairs, and platforms for valves, flanges, joints, and instruments.
  • Identify and propose pipe support locations, spans, and prepare support attachments for the Stress team.
  • Prepare reserve volume for equipment removable space model.
  • Transfer all changes and mark-ups onto the Piping Master Copy (P&ID, Equipment layouts, etc.).
  • Fill in all model attributes correctly and validate line attributes based on maturity level.
  • Consult with Piping Lead, Piping Checker, or Area/Module/Unit Lead for design concerns.
  • Ensure clash-free 3D models via coordination with disciplines such as E&I, Structural, etc.
  • Model Piping Standard Support in 3D Model.

Main Accountabilities

  • Prepare plot plans or equipment layouts for offshore, onshore, and floater projects.
  • Supervise piping designers and perform piping design checks.
  • Perform 3D modeling of equipment and piping.
  • Conduct internal model reviews with team members.
  • Design pipe supports and prepare drawings.
  • Perform site visits as required.
  • Understand P&ID requirements.

About you:

  • Must have:
  • Recognized Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • At least 5 years of experience in Oil & Gas and Petrochemical fields, especially EPC projects.
  • Nice to have:
  • Ability to operate Aveva 3D Tool E3D or Intergraph SP3D
  • Strong technical knowledge in Piping Engineering and Design requirements.
  • Experience with 3D systems (SP3D/E3D)
  • Experience in brownfield projects.
