Position Focus:
The Factory NPI Quality Engineer coordinates launch activities at the manufacturing site, creating and verifying launch process quality documents, and supports program management gate reviews. This role is part of the project team, ensuring manufacturability and quality requirements are met while mitigating risks. Additionally, the engineer acts as the focal point for deploying relevant Quality Systems requirements to the factory.
- Ensure execution of PQP (Product Quality Planning) delivered from the design site QPM (Quality Program Manager).
- Manage factory NPI production line under quality control, firewall/line stop control.
- Lead factory NPI production/process activities, addressing all build issues related to manufacturing and design.
- Coordinate and consolidate build performance reports within the NPI team, aligning quality statements with QPM and Program Manager.
- Own the Safe Launch Control Plan, CTQ, and Process Control Plan to drive flawless launch results.
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a technical field from an accredited institution.
- Advanced Degree in Engineering/Science and MBA are desired.
Experience:
- Minimum five (5) years of quality engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
Position Specific Requirements:
- Strong interpersonal communication and listening skills.
- Practical experience with APQP tools, NPI program management.
- Proficiency in problem-solving tools such as 8D methodology, Fishbone diagrams, Brainstorming, and 5 Why analysis.
- Knowledge of quality tools and process control methods including Control Plans, FMEA, MSA, SPC, and product lifecycle and reliability.
- Ability to interpret specifications to understand quality parameters and product requirements.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of customer-specific requirements.
- Experience with manufacturing of highly engineered power conversion and control solutions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Core Responsibilities:
- Lead manufacturing NPI deliverables, ensuring completion of quality documents during product launch.
- Coordinate all Advanced Quality Planning activities, including internal gate reviews.
- Ensure full compliance with product specifications for sample shipment.
- Support PFMEA activities to meet functional specifications and controls in the Control Plan.
- Develop and implement Poke Yoke strategies and controls.
- Confirm manufacturing readiness for programs and product/process changes.
- Support launch meetings and customer audits.
- Develop and maintain production process Control Plans, CTQ, and Safe Launch Plans.
- Coach manufacturing teams on quality requirements.
- Monitor FA part approval of supplied components.
- Conduct program gate reviews to confirm readiness and documentation completion.
- Ensure MSA studies and Gage R&R are conducted adequately.
- Authority to stop processes or deliveries in case of non-conformance, safety, or environmental risks.
