POSITION SUMMARY:

The RF Engineer II performs sustaining engineering work in applied research, design, development, testing, manufacturing, and documentation of existing products or systems. Uses research techniques to analyze and validate design or theory concepts.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Support the design and analysis of existing systems, products, and subsystems/circuits to specification, cost, budget, schedule, and quality goals.
  2. Review existing production released RF Match and RF Generator designs to become the expert knowledge holder of functionality, and performance using existing product documentation.
  3. Responsible for broad technical knowledge of electronic apparatus, components, or circuitry for use in electronic equipment and devices, including but not limited to DC circuits, AC to DC converters, RF matching impedance networks, AC power factor correction, high power transistors and rectifiers, digital and analog loop stability, magnetic design, worst-case component analysis, digital hardware, firmware, test and measurement systems, and electrical/safety regulatory compliance.
  4. Diagnose issues of diverse scope with design, field performance, root cause/failure analysis, reliability, and manufacturing test yields of existing RF products using formal investigation methods and to recommend/implement corrective actions to address. Perform design verification testing of proposed solutions and create summary reports or presentations.
  5. Follow key engineering procedures including the ECO process, Copy Exact and Product Development Process.
  6. Identify product and process limitations and identify opportunities for product improvement.
  7. Responsible for initiating and managing through to completion engineering changes using the ECO process.
  8. Identify the engineering scope of work and plan/implement/report on engineering-related activities using project management tools.
  9. Provide direction to engineering technicians or lower-level engineers related to product specific work.
  10. Design and analyze derivative products based on existing products and/or subsystems and circuits to specification, cost, budget, schedule, and quality goals.
  11. Analyze manufacturing data using statistical methods to monitor manufacturing performance.
  12. Collaborate with engineering management to respond to changing priorities derived from inputs from Product Marketing, Engineering, Manufacturing, Global Support, Supply Chain, Quality, Technical Service Organization, and Field Application Engineering.
  13. Identify and evaluate obsolete components in existing designs, select possible replacement alternatives, and redesign circuitry as required to meet performance criteria and functional transparency to original design.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Broad technical knowledge of electronic apparatus, components, or circuitry for use in electronic equipment and devices, including but not limited to RF circuits, AC to DC converters, AC power factor correction, high power transistors and rectifiers, digital and analog loop stability, magnetic design and RF test and measurement systems.
  2. Ability to learn and use professional concepts appropriate to engineering, including analytical methods, computer-aided analysis and design tools, diagnostic instruments and test equipment, lab skills appropriate to design, selecting appropriate components and materials for designs.
  3. Ability to collaborate with others to scope projects, determine milestones, and achieve goals.
  4. Self-motivated. Ability to self-manage projects with moderate input and assistance.
  5. Strong organizational and follow-through skills.
  6. Ability to follow standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be obtained.
  7. Ability to apply company policies and procedures to solve routine to complex technical issues.

EXPERIENCE:

  1. 3-4 years of previous experience working in Engineering or similar.

EDUCATION:

  1. Bachelor’s degree / Master's in electrical engineering.
