Job description

Engineer II, Mechanical Systems Engineering

Job Description: The Role: We are seeking a talented and motivated Mechanical Systems Engineer to join our team, focusing on the development and optimization of gas purification systems. This position is responsible for design, documentation, analysis, testing and collaborating across functions to implement advanced technologies in gas purification systems. In this role, the Mechanical Systems Engineer will work closely with mechanical, electrical, controls, software, manufacturing, quality, compliance, suppliers and global engineering teams to support new product development, product transfer, qualification, production readiness and continuous improvement activities.

What You’ll Do: Design mechanical components, assemblies and sub-systems for UHP gas purification systems. Size and select components as required to meet UHP gas purifier system design, performance, safety, reliability and compliance requirements. Create and maintain solid models, engineering drawings, design specifications, BOMs, procedures and other required documents to support development of systems. Work closely with cross-functional teams, including fellow mechanical engineers, controls engineers and electrical engineers for full systems integration. Understand and support system-level architecture, P&ID, gas flow path, component function, operating sequence and subsystem interfaces. Conduct and document engineering calculations, analysis and simulations to evaluate system performance, reliability and technical feasibility. Support testing, validation, qualification, FAT, STP, commissioning, troubleshooting and production build activities as needed. Work with component suppliers, manufacturing quality and operations to ensure products meet design requirements. Support product transfer activities, including design package review, BOM structure, routing readiness, documentation gaps, first build support and issue closure. Analyze and optimize purification processes to enhance efficiency, reduce energy consumption and minimize environmental impact. Prepare detailed technical documentation, including engineering drawings, design specifications, test reports, build records, engineering summaries and issue trackers. Support implementation of engineering change, drawing updates, production configuration control and continuous improvement initiatives. Stay updated with the latest advancements in gas purification technologies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

What We Seek: Bachelor's or master’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. 5-8 years of experience preferred in mechanical engineering with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3-6 years of relevant engineering experience with a Master’s degree. Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD software and simulation tools (e.g., SolidWorks Simulation, ANSYS). Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex systems and processes. Hands‑on experience troubleshooting mechanical, process, test, or system integration issues during assembly, testing, or commissioning. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and concisely. Experience with SAP ERP systems, especially BOMs, routings and documentation. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously. Advises and mentors less experienced engineers. Ability to prioritize workload and self‑manage projects, handle multiple tasks and meet strict deadlines. Detail‑oriented and strong problem solving and decision‑making skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex systems and processes. Experience working in a global company with cross‑site collaboration. A proactive mindset with a passion for innovation and sustainability. Draftsight/AutoCAD 2D CAD experience is a plus.

Outstanding Candidates Will Have: Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of mechanical systems engineering principles and purification technologies, with hands‑on experience in design and systems optimization, complemented by advanced analytical and simulation capabilities. Advanced understanding of fluid dynamics. Experience with process simulation software. Adaptability: Ability to adapt to new challenges and technologies and a willingness to learn and grow within the role. Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail in design, testing and documentation to ensure high‑quality outcomes.
