Job summary

CHINT Global (Malaysia) is seeking a Project Engineer to lead the Transmission and Distribution project implementations, coordinating between production, technology, sales and customers. You will drive site plans, verify risks, and ensure on-time delivery while monitoring costs and contracts.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering with at least 3 years’ hands-on site management or project coordination, and proficiency in English and Mandarin to support Malaysia’s multicultural

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on site management or project coordination experience.
  • Experience in high-rise buildings or infrastructure projects is a plus.
  • Experience in Data Center projects is an advantage.
  • Proven ability to manage subcontractor workforce on construction sites.

Responsibilities

  • Site management & coordination to ensure schedule adherence and documentation.
  • Liaise with client, main contractor, consultant and subcontractors.
  • Monitor progress, quality, safety, and subcontractor performance.
  • Oversee subcontractor operations, resource allocation, and daily progress.
  • Prepare and review project documentation, reports, and progress claims.
  • Manage variation orders, scope changes, cost impacts, and timelines.
  • Coordinate production schedules, manufacturing progress, and delivery lead times.
  • Oversee transportation planning and import/export of equipment.
  • Track cargo movement and address shipping delays with forwarders.

Job description

The Project Engineer is responsible for project implementation and delivery of the Transmission and Distribution portfolio of CHINT (Transformers, HV/MV/LV Switchgears etc). This role will also be verifying project contract risk, review project profits, be responsible for the project implementation scheme and planning, coordinate and solve various problems with production, technology, sales department and customers during the project implementation; monitor project life cycle progress and cost, create and maintain payment plan, ensure project/delivery on time and meet customer and company requirements.

Key Responsibilities
1. Site Management & Coordination
  • Manage and coordinate all site activities, project planning, documentation, and daily operations. Ensure that all work is carried out in strict accordance with the approved schedule, technical specifications, and overall project requirements.
  • Liaise and communicate effectively with the Client, Main Contractor, Consultant, and Subcontractors. This includes attending scheduled meetings, resolving on-site technical issues proactively, and maintaining excellent stakeholder coordination.
3. Progress, Quality & Safety Monitoring
  • Monitor and control site progress, quality, safety protocols, and subcontractor performance. Ensure full compliance with contractual requirements, approved internal procedures, and all applicable Malaysian statutory standards and regulations.
  • Conduct regular quality and safety inspections of subcontractor work, ensuring all deliverables meet project specifications and regulatory standards
4. Subcontractor Management
  • Oversee day-to-day subcontractor operations on-site, including resource allocation, workforce scheduling, and task assignment to ensure optimal productivity.
  • Assign specific work packages to subcontractors based on project milestones, monitor daily progress, and adjust manpower deployment as needed to meet deadlines.
  • Conduct regular site walk-downs with subcontractor supervisors to review work progress, identify bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions in real time.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for subcontractors on-site, facilitating clear communication between subcontractor teams, client representatives, and the project management office.
5. Documentation & Administrative Support
  • Prepare and review all project documentation, reports, correspondence, technical submissions, inspection records, and progress claims. Perform any other ad-hoc duties assigned by the superior from time to time as required
6. Manage variation order, including scope changes, cost impact assessment, timeline adjustment.
7. Coordinate with factories on production schedules, manufacturing progress, and delivery lead time
8. Manage transportation plan, import/export for equipment (transformer, switchgear, UPS and etc).
9. Track and monitor cargo movement, proactively address any shipping delays, and coordinate with forwarders
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree or above in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience in site management or project coordination.
  • Experience in high‑rise buildings or infrastructure projects is an added advantage.
  • Experience in Data Center project is a strong plus.
  • Proven experience in managing subcontractor workforce on construction or infrastructure project sites is highly preferred.
  • Proficient in English (spoken and written) is required. Proficiency in Mandarin (spoken and written) will be an added advantage to support communication within Malaysia’s multicultural working environment and facilitate collaboration with Chinese‑speaking management and stakeholders
  • Proficient in office software, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills, ability to work under pressure, excellent communication skills, and a strong team player.
  • Familiar with project lifecycle management
  • Familiarity with subcontractor on‑site management and performance supervision is an advantage.
  • Strong on‑site coordination skills to manage multi-disciplinary subcontractor teams effectively.
  • proficient in reading construction drawings, and skilled in AutoCAD, MS Project, and Office Suite.
  • Willing to travel and be based in Johor or other project locations as required
