POSITION OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Critical Services Manager, the Electrical Engineering Manager oversees the electrical infrastructure and systems of our hyperscale data centres. This role ensures the continuous and efficient operation of electrical systems, maintains high safety and compliance standards, and supports strategic initiatives. The successful candidate will lead and mentor a team of electrical engineers, new graduates, and technicians, ensuring the delivery of critical electrical services 24/7.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Electrical System Management: Oversee the design, installation, operation, and maintenance of electrical systems within the data centres. Ensure all electrical infrastructure, including power distribution units (PDUs), uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), generators, and switchgear, operate reliably and efficiently. Implement and maintain electrical safety policies, procedures, and best practices. Lead, mentor, and develop a team of electrical engineers and technicians, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Coordinate with shift teams to ensure seamless 24/7 coverage and effective handovers. Conduct regular training sessions and performance evaluations to enhance team capabilities and productivity.
  2. Maintenance and Upgrades: Plan and oversee preventative and corrective maintenance activities, ensuring all electrical equipment and systems are serviced according to manufacturer and company standards. Coordinate with vendors and contractors for maintenance and upgrade projects, minimizing operational impact.
  3. Safety and Compliance: Ensure all electrical operations comply with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations. Maintain up-to-date documentation and records to support compliance audits and certifications.
  4. Technical Support: Provide technical expertise and support for electrical systems, including troubleshooting and resolving complex issues. Collaborate with other engineering and operations teams to ensure integrated and efficient system performance.
  5. Strategic Initiatives: Support the Critical Services Manager in developing and implementing strategies to enhance electrical system performance and support business growth. Participate in budget planning and cost management activities to ensure operational efficiency and financial performance.
Candidate Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in electrical engineering, with at least 3-5 years in a managerial role.
  • Strong knowledge of data centre electrical infrastructure, including power distribution, UPS systems, generators, and switchgear.
  • Proven experience managing technical teams and 24/7 operations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to manage complex electrical challenges.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Certifications such as Professional Engineer (PE) or similar are highly desirable.
