Job description

As a team member of our global new product development team, an Electrical Engineer is responsible for defining, designing, testing, documenting, and releasing new products for Nordson Electronic Solutions. A successful Electrical Engineer will use sound engineering principles to develop products that meet or exceed our product requirements, ensuring our new products meet safety, regulatory, and quality standards while delivering value and performance for our customers. Additionally, the Electrical Engineer will work to meet stage-gate requirements, delivering products on-time, within cost targets, and of the highest quality. Working independently or as part of a larger project team, the engineer will collaborate effectively, applying an innovative attitude to support our customers and Nordson's success.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

1. Apply engineering principles to develop robust designs that meet all product requirements.
2. Design electrical aspects of products, including electrical and control systems for fluid applicators, fluid management systems, automation machines, and interfaces with customer line control processes.
3. Develop and execute test plans to ensure designs meet safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
4. Follow the stage-gate process, plan projects, and meet milestones and cost targets on time with quality deliverables.
5. Collaborate with Mechanical and Software engineering teams to integrate designs into cohesive products meeting all performance requirements.
6. Work with product line management to develop and review specifications.
7. Partner with Operations to design products for manufacturing, supporting prototype builds and beta testing.
8. Support Voice-of-Customer (VOC) discussions with clients as needed.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience Requirements

• BSc in Electrical Engineering with 4-7 years of relevant experience or equivalent.
• SolidWorks experience or similar CAD software is required.
• Preferred: experience with sensors, measuring devices, control systems, automation, stage-gate & project management, and product launch experience.
• Additional plus: customer interactions, factory visits, SAP ERP experience.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Travel Required

Approximately 5% for customer VOC and project meetings.
