Job description

Purpose:
The role is responsible for managing the electrical equipment of a large-scale Air Separation plant producing oxygen, nitrogen, and argon products. The position focuses on implementing reliability and maintenance strategies, overseeing maintenance activities, troubleshooting issues, and leading improvements to achieve high reliability KPIs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safety and Compliance: Promote a safe working culture, ensure adherence to electrical safety regulations, and comply with Suruhanjaya Tenaga standards.
  • Maintenance Execution: Lead maintenance of electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, motors, and generators, ensuring high reliability.
  • Predictive Testing & Monitoring: Conduct predictive testing (e.g., IR, PI, HIPOT) on electrical equipment and recommend suitable evaluation methods and vendors.
  • Troubleshooting: Resolve electrical system failures, including breaker trips and motor rewinding.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to electrical safety and regulatory requirements.
  • CMMS Proficiency: Use CMMS platforms like SAP and Maximo to manage maintenance work orders.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate with electrical contractors, chargemen, and stakeholders to ensure effective equipment maintenance.
  • Tool and Spare Management: Manage spare parts and tools, ensuring adequate inventory and strategic planning for replacements.
  • Technical Documentation and Training: Prepare manuals, technical documents, and provide training to staff to enhance competencies.
  • Budgeting: Assist in proposing OPEX and CAPEX budgets for projects and major maintenance.
  • Proactive Maintenance: Encourage preventive maintenance strategies to minimize corrective maintenance.
  • Failure Mode Identification: Identify potential equipment failure modes and recommend corrective actions to improve reliability.
  • New Technologies: Suggest and implement new technologies for early detection and resolution of equipment failures.
  • Downtime Investigation: Investigate major downtime incidents, implement corrective actions, and share lessons learned.
  • Corrective Actions Management: Track and manage corrective action reports to address reliability gaps.
  • People Development: Develop staff competencies, including for chargemen and technicians, to improve team capabilities.

Job Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
  • Experience: At least 3 years of hands-on experience in HV/MV electrical equipment operations and maintenance, preferably in industrial gas, petrochemicals, or oleochemicals.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with Suruhanjaya Tenaga regulations and IEC standards.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience with Air Separation Unit (ASU) operations is advantageous.
  • System Knowledge: Familiarity with SAP maintenance module is a plus.
  • Language Skills: Proficiency in English and Bahasa Malaysia. Ability to communicate in Mandarin is an added advantage.
  • Location: Willing to relocate/be stationed in Kuantan, Pahang.
