Job summary

FASTRAIN TECHNOLOGY MALAYSIA SDN. BHD. in Perai, Penang, is seeking a Safety Officer to lead workplace Safety, Health and Environmental activities within a manufacturing facility.

The role will work with facility teams, contractors and authorities to strengthen safe operations and risk controls. You will develop policies, deliver training, perform audits, and oversee safety governance with authority to stop unsafe work and drive corrective actions.

Qualifications

• Diploma or higher in Engineering, Environmental, Health & Safety or equivalent.
• At least 2 years of EHS or safety experience; fresh candidates may be considered based on fit.
• DOSH Green Book registration or certification highly valued.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and IATF 16949 is beneficial for compliance.
• Strong ability to prepare, review and manage safety, health and environmental records and reports.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint for documentation and reporting.
• Independent working style with ownership of assigned responsibilities.
• English and Bahasa Malaysia required; Mandarin is an advantage for stakeholder communication.
• Malaysian citizenship or permanent residency is required.

Responsibilities

• Lead EHS compliance: develop, implement and review safety policies, procedures and process controls.
• Build safety awareness: deliver internal safety training and operator training during reviews.
• Audit and inspect operations: conduct safety audits, hazard analyses, inspections and investigations with clear reports.
• Coordinate regulatory matters: liaise with DOSH, DOE and authorities on SH&E issues.
• Manage safety governance: oversee Safety Committee and act as secretary for meetings.
• Control contractor compliance: monitor contractors, vendors and visitors for SH&E adherence.
• Oversee scheduled waste: manage labeling, storage, monitoring, records and reporting.
• Support facility reliability: work on utility systems and anticipate breakdowns affecting safety.
• Enforce safe operations: stop unsafe work, perform audits and issue corrective actions.

Education

Diploma/Advanced Diploma/ Higher Diploma/ Graduate Diploma in Engineering, Environmental, Health & Safety or equivalent
